The Basilica, known for welcoming millions of patrons annually, has steadily expanded its Clear-Com system. The station upgraded to the aw

USA - The team at Harford Sound has set up stages in all kinds of places over the years, but none was quite like the site they worked at for Augusta After Dark. A signature event at this year’s Masters Golf Tournament, the evening gala, which was sponsored by Draft Kings and Sports Illustrated, took place at an upscale private estate near the Augusta National Golf Course.

The ritzy home has a lot to recommend it, but it was never intended to host a one-hour show by a multi-Grammy winner for 500 VIP invited guests. The question quickly arose: where to put the stage? The answer, it turned out, was over the swimming pool.

This arrangement required more than a little fancy footwork on the part of production managers Evan Kirkendall and Steve Wozniak along with their team at Harford Sound and their partners in this project –

Portugal - In March 2025, the MEO Arena in Lisbon hosted two nights of an unforgettable concert by Portuguese singer and musician, Tony Carreira. One of the major highlights of the show was the lighting design, which provided a breathtaking visual experience for this heartfelt performance.

Canada - Pierre E. Roy lit a recent sold-out performance of La Légende by comedian Dave Gaudet at the Place Bell in Laval, Quebec. Following a vision guided by what he describes as “Making light rock,” Roy animated his client’s witty and satirical performance with a dynamic lighting design that featured plenty of ballyhoo moments accented by special effects and atmospherics. Helping him was a versatile rig supplied by Nord-Scène that featured 57 Chauvet Professional fixtures.

Roy said this when describing his show: “When you think of a rock show, you think of raw energy, music that vibrates through your body and lighting that hits hard. This show, let’s be honest, was a visual slap in the face created with explosive colours, well-timed lighting breaks, and the balance between power and subtlety.

“This was actually a ‘comedy

USA - The Link at Cascade, a major mixed-use development in the heart of Miami, now shines as a beacon visible from US Highway1 and the Miami Metrorail. Designed by internationally renowned Arquitectonica, the 5.57-acre project features a 404,000sq.ft residential tower with 421 units, 13,000sq.ft of retail, and 25,000sq.ft of vibrant public plaza space. A defining feature of the development is Cascade, a dynamic exterior lighting design that brings the building’s expansive façade to life.

The Cascade lighting concept, developed by John DiDomenico of Skyline Arts, uses TMB’s FloppyFlex LED Neon to create bold, abstract lines across the tower’s otherwise understated exterior. The challenge was considerable – illuminating a large, exposed surface with no exterior access and strict concealment limitations. From the earliest stages, FloppyFlex was centra

USA - From the dirt-covered floors of sold-out arenas to the roar of packed stadiums, Professional Bull Riders (PBR) events deliver a high-octane experience that demands as much from the technical crew as it does from the athletes. For the audio team at Gateway Studios & Production Services (GSPS), ensuring pristine, uninterrupted sound across both live and broadcast mixes means relying on a processing core that’s both powerful and resilient. Since 2022, that core has been Outline’s Newton.

“Newton has been a great tool for our setup - super intuitive and easy to programme right out of the box,” says Shane Thomas, the system engineer responsible for deploying and managing GSPS’s touring rig for the sport’s flagship PBR Unleash The Beast tour and PBR Teams league. “The user interface is straightforward, which makes day-to-day use fa

The idea was to make people discover the park from a new perspective, as park director Emmanuel Visentin explains: “We wanted to bring some winter magic, an experience that would extend the link between

Europe - Although Marc Carolan has become well known for carrying several racks of analogue outboard gear when touring as the front-of-house mixer for Snow Patrol and Muse, he is just as likely to apply some of his favourite plugins hosted on Fourier Audio’s transform.engine. But while he has long simply chosen the processing tool that fits the application - whether it’s analogue or digital – this summer, using Fourier’s platform, he plans to push the limits of what he’s previously been able to do in the digital domain.

Carolan, who has been working in live and studio sound for over 25 years, also including with The Cure, Italian superstar Cremonini, and many others, follows a simple principle when selecting what signal processing to apply to a sound source. “It has always been about the tool that fits, the tool that works. I’m quite agnostic a

World - Toto and their engineers are well established in the music industry. When a colleague suggested to Ken Freeman, Toto’s front-of-house engineer, that he should swap to DiGiCo, he agreed and the switch became permanent.

Starting with an SD 10, then the Quantum 338, he recently upgraded to a Quantum 852 for the 2024 Dogz of Oz tour and has never looked back. Steve Kallos, at the monitor position, could not have imagined swapping from his SD10, but when his trusted console was not available, the Quantum 338 was “thrust upon” him – and he is very glad it was.

“With my previous console,” Freeman recalls, “I always had to run a Waves server for EQ and compression, but when I switched to DiGiCo, I found it was such an open, beautiful sounding desk, I was able to lose the server. I use MainStage as my host software with Universa
