USA - Renkus-Heinz has announced compatibility between its Iconyx Digitally Steerable Arrays and Crestron remote controllers.

All Iconyx systems have long been equipped with an RS485 external connector for data communication. Now this data port will enable users to implement control and monitoring via third party controllers such as those made by Crestron.

Details on controlling an Iconyx array using a Crestron control system may be found on the Crestron website. Further information on initializing Iconyx systems for third party control via RS485 may be found in the Iconyx manual.

"User interface has always been very important to our customers and the addition of an open third party control protocol really adds to our flexibility," says Renkus-Heinz marketing manager Margie Ulm.

UK - The rapid expansion of music festivals in the UK has meant that the summer is a particularly busy period for Howard Leight by Sperian. Helping festival organisers meet their duty to provide effective PPE and conform with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, Howard Leight by Sperian has supplied its Laser Lite earplugs to the organisers of events such as Glastonbury.

Much of the music played at live music festivals includes a lot of bass sound and subsequently a high level of low frequency noise. Additionally, the use of visual effects on stage, such as fireworks, produces percussive noise which is also low frequency. It is for this reason that festival organisers, such as Glastonbury, have selected Howard Leight by Sperian's Laser Lite earplugs which are particularly effective at attenuating low frequency sounds, says the company.

UK - Han-Yellock is a new industrial connector series from Harting which incorporates a number of features that make it suited to use in stage automation, concert lighting and power distribution systems.

In addition to offering an IP67 mated degree of protection, the connector features an integrated 'seat-belt' style latched locking mechanism that ensures damage limitation under harsh handling conditions. The new connector also allows single-handed mating or unmating, making it suitable for fitting in awkward access areas - often the case for theatre installations.

The locking facility is a key function of the Han-Yellock connector. When locked, the connection is resistant to vibration and shock. When unmated, a red ring is visible around the perimeter of the locking pushbutton. When fully mated, this ring disappears as soon as the internally protected stainless-steel springs
