UK - RSS by Roland have confirmed the landing of products and components and forged new friendships with third party suppliers. The AES/EBU input and output boards for the Digital Snake have arrived in the UK. These allow you to mix and match analogue and digital inputs and outputs in the same system, the output board having sample rate conversion and word clock per module. Each module has four inputs or outputs and can be synchronised to each other. A system containing AES populated Digital Snake has been purchased by the Royal College of Music in Kensington for integration into their new recording system.

The latest software revision for the Digital Snake is now available. Version 1.5 enables remote control of pre-amp gain, pad, phantom power and memories from your Yamaha M7 or PM series desk. A converter from RS-232 to RS-422 is required.

USA - In a record year for ETC product releases, its Eos lighting control system, which is set to launch in Europe in summer 2007, won the LDI Product of the Year Award for best debuting product in the lighting category. The award praised the new console for its "groundbreaking innovation and functionality".

The independent panel of judges said: "Eos is a radical move forward in console design that allows everyone to see whichever displays they prefer." Marian Sandberg, editor of Live Design magazine, presented the award to ETC's CEO Fred Foster and the Eos design team.

USA - Element Labs Inc received a 2006 Live Design International Products of the Year award for its new Stealth LED Screen at the LDI 2006 exhibition held in Las Vegas. The award was presented at the Live Design International Awards reception, which was held on Saturday, October 21 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

USA - Robe's brand new StageQube 324 LED wall has won one of the LDI 2006 Debuting Product Awards in the projection category. The product was launched in September at the PLASA Show, and LDI saw it revealed to the American Market for the first time.

USA - Since ETC's new Eos lighting control system made its official debut at LDI 2006 in Las Vegas and won the LDI 2006 Product of the Year Award for best debuting product in the lighting category, it has been drawing huge interest, the company reports.

In response to such a demand for information on Eos, ETC has introduced a new interactive graphic tour on their Web site - highlighting the innovative features and functionality that, they say, sets Eos apart from other control systems.

The Eos product tour allows viewers to see why this is the flagship system in ETC's new Complete Control line-up, says the company.

The European launch of Eos is expected in June 2007.

UK - Vision Systems has announced that its PA/VA brand - Millbank - is initiating a major product development strategy aiming to launch a new series of Millbank products in 2007.

With the legislation re: RHOS and WEEE coming into force from July 2006 an assessment of the current products confirms that the best course of action is to withdraw products that do not meet these requirements. The costs of meeting these requirements was so substantial that Millbank has taken the brave step of concentrating the time of its engineers on its future developments rather than re-building the old products to meet these legislative issues.

USA - On October 19, the much-anticipated international communications standard E1.17 Architecture for Control Networks (commonly known as ACN) received certification from ANSI (the American National Standards Institute), achieving the last needed step in its full ratification process. The Board of Directors of ESTA (Entertainment Services and Technology Association) approved ACN on October 5, 2006. The Control Protocols Working Group and the Technical Standards Committee of ESTA approved the new standard on July 15, 2006.

Since then, Syncrolite has brought the lighting industry a wide array of fully automated xenon skylights for use in theatrical and architectural applications.

Syncrolite has now introduced the OmniColor* D, which it says is "the first and only true thin film Dichroic Color Mixing system" - CYM and RGB. (Worldwide Patents Pending.) Italy - Italian manufacturer LDR has recently introduced the white Canto followspot, developed specifically for houses of worship and for applications were a full white followspot is required.
