For the Factory Sessions, Portman has transformed its production floor into a fully functional music stage

Poland - Portman Lights, the Polish manufacturer known for its iconic, eye-catching fixture designs seen on stages from global tours to top TV shows, has just flipped the script – and the switch. It has opened its factory doors to musicians.

Portman has transformed the heart of its Gdynia-based factory into a fully functional concert stage – using only its own static lighting fixtures, including the latest hybrid product, Omniray. The launch of Portman Factory Sessions, a new YouTube series, invites artists to perform live in the very space where the company’s renowned lighting products are designed and built.

“We wanted to go beyond showcasing our fixtures in promo videos or spotting them somewhere in the world on stage,” says Michał, brand manager at Portman Lights. “We wanted to show what happens when the people who build the gear collaborate directly with the people who perform alongside it. This is about starting a dialogue between light and sound, between makers and artists.”

Each episode features a stripped-down, raw performance and a short conversation about stage lighting – from the artist’s perspective. The project aims to inspire artists to see stage lighting as part of their own creative expression, showcase lighting design as a storytelling tool, and celebrate the DNA of Portman – design-driven, emotionally charged, and unapologetically bold.

The first artist featured in the Portman Factory Sessions is the band daltonists. The Tricity-based trio consists of Roman Wróblewski (synths), orz (bass guitar), and Jacek Rezner (drums). Their music blends elements of contemporary jazz, afrobeat, dub, club music, and improvisation. The name daltonists refers to colour blindness – a metaphor for human imperfections, which the band embraces as their core inspiration and creative drive. Their debut mini-album, released in May 2024, features five tracks, each offering a distinct sonic narrative built on rhythm, space, and experimental energy.

Episode One – featuring daltonists – is now live on YouTube. Watch here: https://www.youtube.com/@PortmanFactorySessions.
