USA - Loud Technologies has announced that Mackie is using the NAMM show to introduce a new flagship Active subwoofer into its growing family of Active sound reinforcement speakers. The Mackie SWA2801z combines dual 18" drivers, a built-in 800W FR Series power amplifier. Designed to outperform traditional 2 x 18" systems, the Mackie SWA2801z benefits from Mackie's award-winning Active electronics, which provide much greater integration of all components in the system than tradition 'powered' loudspeakers, say the company. Mackie Active electronics are customized for each driver/cabinet/amplifier combination and provide complete, real-time control over critical functions such as crossover filters, equalization, as well as protection for both transducer and electronics. Active electronics also allow for integration with full-range loudspeakers, which can be stacked or pole-mounted - whether the SWA2801z is positioned vertically or horizontally.

XLR connections on the back of the SWA2801z provide stereo input, Loop-Through and High Pass outputs, while a Subwoofer Level control allows the user to easily blend the SWA2801z with its full-range counterparts. Carrying handles are built into each side of the robust enclosure and allow for easy loading. Heavy-duty castors are attached for smooth transport.

The Mackie SWA2801z, which is the perfect compliment to Mackie's recently expanded SA and SR Series Active full-range loudspeakers, is currently shipping to authorized Mackie Active dealers throughout the United States, say the company.

Also under the Loud Technologies banner, Tapco is showing its new Series 69 passive loudspeakers for the first time in the US this week at NAMM. Continuing their tradition of providing high-value recording and live sound products for the audio novice and music hobbyist, the Series 69 combine the advanced tuning and acoustic design expertise of Mackie, with Tapco's tradition of maximum quality and performance, say the company.
