Romania - The Cocor Shopping Centre in Bucharest has unveiled a major upgrade to its massive digital signage display. The installation, a well-known feature of the city's urban landscape, has been revitalised with LED technology from Absen.

This landmark project was executed by local AV integration firm, Eltek. The project has transformed the facade, upgrading its visual performance, energy efficiency, and operational reliability to meet modern standards of performance.

For years, the Cocor’s LED system, based on older technology, had become difficult and expensive to maintain. The system's high energy consumption and frequent technical issues made it inefficient and unable to support modern visual digital campaigns. Additionally, the outdated content management system lacked modern automation features, further limiting its capabilities.

Australia - The Chandler Theatre, originally constructed for the 1982 Commonwealth Games, has long served as one of Brisbane’s most versatile performance spaces. With its original loudspeaker system reaching the end of life, the 1,500-seat venue required a modern upgrade capable of handling a wide range of programming, from school productions and orchestral concerts to national touring acts.

After a competitive design process, a new sound system based on JBL Professional’s VTX A6 subcompact line array was installed by High Noon Stage Productions, with system consultation by XConnect Professional Services and support from Australian distributor MadisonAV. The result is a powerful yet discreet audio solution that balances performance with architectural and operational requirements.

The final design features three hangs of eight JBL VTX A6 loudspeak

Poland - The Municipal Culture Centre in the central Polish town of Gostynin was founded in 1993, and for more than three decades has been the community’s base for musical and theatre performances, social activities, and cinema screenings. More than two years ago, its management took the decision to modernise and refurbish the Centre, since which it has undergone a significant transformation.

Upgrading the venue’s technology was an important part of the project and audio specialist Tommex was engaged to design, supply, and install a quality sound system to cater for a demanding programme of theatre shows and concerts.

Tommex chose Coda Audio’s N-APS compact arrayable point source for the 250-seat auditorium.

The flown system installed at the Centre comprised three N-APS and two N-SUB per side supplemented by a single, centrally mounted

The Netherlands - Spot is an umbrella organisation set up to run music productions staged at two busy venues in the city of Groningen – De Oosterpoort and the municipality’s main theatre, Stadsschouwburg.

Since 1973, De Oosterpoort has been the leading music venue in the area and is the home of the Noord Nederlands Orkest and the four-day Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) festival, plus numerous other shows, productions and business events. Last year, Oosterpoort’s first Robe moving lights arrived as part of an upgrade to start replacing their old halogen stock with LED luminaires, with more recently delivered, so all their moving lights are now LED-based.

The venue has three halls. The Grote Zaal (Main Hall) can accommodate 1,850 standing and 1,150 seated, the Kleine Zaal (Small Hall) has a capacity of 750 standing and 450 seated, and the

Germany - One of the country's most acoustically revered concert halls has been transformed. Originally built in 1926 as a planetarium, Tonhalle Düsseldorf was converted into a concert hall during the 1970s and has since earned worldwide recognition for its exceptional natural acoustics.

Today, the venue serves as home to the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra while hosting an eclectic mix of classical, rock, pop, comedy and cabaret performances. But when the hall's aging sound system began experiencing critical failures, Tonhalle faced the urgent challenge of installing an audio system worthy of a venue approaching its centennial without compromising its acoustic integrity.

The solution came through a competitive EU-wide public tender won by integrator Thomann Audio Professional. Following a system design developed by consultancy firm Bühnenplanung

Italy - One of the best-known spiritual destinations in the world, the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi recently underwent a major audio and control system upgrade to enhance the worship and visitor experience for millions of annual pilgrims. The project brought together JBL Intellivox loudspeakers, BSS signal processing, and AMX control systems to deliver precise coverage, intuitive operation, and seamless integration across the site’s 10,000sq.m outdoor space.

The Basilica of St. Francis holds deep cultural and spiritual significance as the birthplace of the Franciscan movement, characterized by humility, poverty, and devotion to all creation. With two adjoining churches, frescoes by Giotto, and an expansive piazza that hosts large gatherings of worshippers and tourists, the site presents challenges for sound reinforcement.

Croatia - Kazalište 21 (Theatre 21) in Sisak, one of the city’s most cherished cultural landmarks, has reopened its doors with a modern Elation lighting system by Audio Video Consulting (AVC), marking a major milestone in the theatre’s post-earthquake recovery. The 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck the region on 29 December 2020 caused significant damage to the venue, temporarily silencing a key hub of local arts and culture.

The newly renovated theatre is a modern performance venue, capable of hosting theatre, music, and puppet productions at the highest professional level. Operated by Dom kulture Kristalna kocka vedrine – City Theatre Sisak, its contemporary aesthetics are matched by an advanced technical infrastructure, offering a flexible and inspiring environment for artists and audiences alike. The interior, designed by architect Hans Kuiten, features ambient LED lighting by Artecta, chosen by Harald Verjans from Verjans AV, enhancing the mood by casting a warm, inviting glow that complements the fine furnishings.

Owners Tom Hamaekers and Ricky Quaaden are thrilled with how Bar Nola turned out. Its surroundings make it a popular place for customers to relax, sip cocktails, and enjoy the DJs on Friday and Saturday nights.

To create the ambience, Verjans AV installed Artecta Dropper and Neonflex lighting, which integrates seamlessly into the bar’s stylish surroundings. These units, powered by energy-efficient drivers from Artecta and Meanwell, ensure both safety and performance.

Japan - Giants Town Stadium, which opened in Inagi, Tokyo, in March this year, is the home of the Yomiuri Giants’ ‘farm team’ (nursery club) and will also host women's and amateur men's baseball games - as well as being a multi-use facility.

Designed to bring fans closer to the action, the 2,900-seat, three-story stadium has been equipped with a Martin Audio-based weatherised (WR) sound system, to create a listening environment that offers presence and warmth.

With acoustic planning, construction and sales handled by Denon Engineering Co, these comprise CDD10-WR (as the main speakers), CDD6TX-WR (100V/70V line speakers for ‘Excite’ premium seats, first base infield, third base infield rooftop garden, and standing room in the right field); CDD8-WR (for outfield grass area, and as temporary, portable speakers), and ADORN A40 (for the Umpire a

USA - Nebraska-based Omaha Performing Arts (O-pa) continues to invest in Ayrton lighting fixtures for its venues with the new Tenaska Centre for Arts Engagement due to install Argo 6 FX fixtures and Diablo profiles before its grand opening in March 2026.

Previously, Steelhouse Omaha and The Holland Performing Arts Centre purchased Eurus, Karif LT and Zonda 9 FX fixtures for their spaces. All of the facilities are part of the Dick & Mary Holland Campus, which is centrally located in downtown Omaha. The campus offers a wide spectrum of performing arts experiences and shows and hosts a broad range of education and engagement programmes for the community.

“By staying consistent with Ayrton fixtures across the buildings we’ve gained cross-use, backup and a lot of flexibility,” says Ryan Murray, associate vice president of operations at O-pa.

USA - Evoking the spirit of a 1920s speakeasy hidden within the The Venetian Casino, Las Vegas, 1923 sets the stage for live jazz and soft swing. Integrator DesignO’s Emaan selected an Optimal Audio ecosystem to deliver the requirement for “warm and full-bodied sound” suited to the room’s timeless allure.

Reflecting its flexible layout, the venue was divided into multiple audio zones. An enclosed private room hosts magic shows and intimate gatherings, with its own dedicated audio. The large central hall can be subdivided with curtains to create smaller, more intimate areas, while the lobby and additional side sections operate independently when required.

The audio system comprised a total of 12 Optimal Audio Up ceiling speakers accessorised as pendent speakers in black, to provide even ambient coverage across ceilings, using 110° conical dis

China - Opened earlier this year, Bottle Live Club in the city of Chengdu has quickly become a magnet for diverse audiences. Situated in the city’s Jinjiang District, the club is in the heart of Chengdu’s commercial, cultural, and entertainment life. A varied programme of live music from large-scale ensembles, solo artists, bands, and DJ sets, demanded an appropriate sound system.

Bottle Live Club’s investors, a group which also manages the city’s Playhouse venue, engaged ST Audio to design and supply a high quality and robust solution for this challenging venue. The club covers a total area of more than 7500sq.m, with a main hall of more than 900sq.m and a ceiling height of 22m.

Since its establishment in 2012 ST Audio has operated as a distributor and integrator in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao, specialising in delivering comprehensi

Sweden - Dalhalla, an open-air amphitheatre set in the former Draggängarna limestone quarry in central Sweden, is popular for its summer seasons featuring a range of music and artists – rock and pop, musicals and sometimes opera.

The venue invested in 20 new Robe iForte moving lights, delivered for its 2025 season which has just concluded. These are a well-received technical upgrade and have been used over the summer, explained the venue’s head of technical, Anders ‘Hebbe’ Herbertzon.

The new iFortes have replaced 18 x Robe MMX Spots that had been in service since 2012. Still going strong, these are now redeployed in another venue operated by Dalhalla’s management company, Rättvik Event in nearby Falun, which runs for the winter season.

Dalhalla still has 12 of Robe’s first generation of LED theatre luminaires – DLS Profiles

Ireland - Originally constructed in the 16th century as a fortress to protect Cork Harbour, Blackrock Castle has undergone numerous transformations. Destroyed by fire in the 19th century, it was rebuilt for the city before entering private hands and becoming variously, a private residence, offices, rowing club HQ, and a restaurant. Reacquired by Cork Corporation in 2001, the building was renovated and repurposed as an observatory and museum under a joint venture between the City Council, Cork Institute of Technology, and a private benefactor.

Since opening in 2007 as a centre for scientific research, outreach and communication, the observatory, which houses an interactive astronomy centre open to the public, has welcomed more than 1.4m visitors. Earlier this year, the facility was closed to allow the upgrading of its technological provision, to better serve

UK - The Regent Centre is a 505-seat cinema and theatre that sits in the heart of Christchurch, Dorset. Having first opened its doors back in 1931, it still thrives today as a non-profit, multi-purpose venue with live music, comedy and community performance shows which help bring in over 100,000 visitors every year.

Following a mechanical inspection, it was decided that the venue required both a replacement of its auditorium chain hoist system as well as a new wing-masking system with curtain tracks and drapes – with all of this work being carried out by Solutions On Stage.

Solutions On Stage were first contacted by the Regent Centre’s technical manager Scott Gurd, who comments: “I was on the lookout for a new technical inspection company as I wanted to ensure that our performance space was as safe and technically efficient as possible. Solutio

India - Mumbai, India’s most populous city and financial capital, is currently undergoing significant redevelopment. In Bhendi Bazaar in particular, the expansive Saifee Burhani Upliftment Project is transforming the area into a modern and vibrant metropolis. A significant part of the ongoing project has been the renovation of the area’s Saifee Masjid.

Originally built in the early 20th century, the Masjid soon became the community’s primary place of worship. After almost 100 years of service, the building underwent significant reconstruction before reopening in September 2023. The updated structure blends architectural heritage with innovation, along with an audio-visual system to reflect the needs of modern-day worshippers. 12 Renkus-Heinz Iconyx Compact ICC12/3 loudspeakers were chosen as an integral part of this soundscape.

Spain - On the roof terrace of the boutique hotel Monsuau in Cala D'Or, Mallorca, guests can enjoy cocktails at sunset, listen to DJ sets and experience live shows – with a completely new sound and lighting system.

The installation service provider responsible for the new system, Sonomusic, developed a customised system based on solutions from LD Systems and Cameo. The audio and lighting setup is managed and controlled via the QUESTRA design and management software from LD Systems.

The requirements for the audio system were an appealing design to match the look of the rooftop bar, and even sound coverage without disturbing the hotel rooms below or neighbouring residential buildings. “By using the compact LD Systems MAUI i1 column loudspeakers and DQOR SUB 8 subwoofers, we found an optimal solution for this challenge,” explains Andreu Femenias,

UK - No Martin Audio dealer partnership has existed longer than that with Irish distributor Rea Sound, which dates back to 1982. Fast-forward 43 years and the system integrators continue to specify permanent Martin Audio solutions in a broad variety of facilities - most notably Houses of Worship.

Three churches demonstrate how Rea Sound has adopted a different approach to suit the needs (and protect the heritage) of the respective buildings.

One of these is St. Finnian’s Church of Ireland in Castlereagh, outside Belfast. States the church’s Mike Johnson: “We’d had our audio system since around 2017-2018. But with COVID came a necessity to stream services, and the rector asked me to put together a package. So I spoke to Rea Sound and very quickly they proposed a system which we installed five or six weeks later.”

Egypt - Three major mosques across Cairo - Al-Sayyida Nafisa, Osama Ben Zaid and Al-Ali Al-Azeem - have received major audio upgrades powered by JBL Professional and Crown. Each project, integrated by partner Audio Technology, reflects a tailored approach to acoustics in sacred environments, ‘uniting high-performance sound with architectural reverence to ensure sermons, recitations and prayers reach every corner with clarity and balance’.

Recently inaugurated during Ramadan by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Al-Ali Al-Azeem Mosque in Almaza, Heliopolis, represents one of the most ambitious house-of-worship projects in the region. Spanning 8,100sq.m and accommodating up to 5,000 worshippers across three floors, the mosque also houses a library, clinic, nursery, and classrooms, making consistent audio coverage a complex challenge.
