Switzerland - Due to unprecedented demand from Switzerland's classical outdoor festival circuit, TiMax distributor Bleuel Electronics AG has invested in additional TiMax Tracker and TiMax2 SoundHub systems from UK developer Out Board. With its existing rental stock already fully committed to other shows, Bleuel purchased a further TiMax SoundHub-R32 delay matrix and four-sensor TiMax Tracker (TT) performer tracking system to service a spectacular in-the-round production of Carmen being staged outdoors in Schintznach Dorf.

TiMax was specified by sound designer Renee Zulauf, who was assisted on-site by Robin Whittaker of TiMax developers Out Board. Renee's associate Dominic Schilt mixed the show on a SoundCraft Vi6, feeding radio-mic channel direct outs plus orchestra and reverb submixes to the TiMax Soundhub via optical MADI. Egypt - Mobinil, Egypt's leading mobile service provider, invited over 6,000 of its employees with their families to a concert at Cairo's Smart Village, to celebrate their 12th anniversary.

Top Lebanese superstars in the Middle East and North Africa, Elisa and Fadl Shaker headlined, along with soft rock band, Wust El-Balad - all performing under 24 PR Lighting XL Beams, supplied by the company's local distributors, Hi-Lights Egypt.

These 300W moving heads offer three beam angle options while the fixture itself uses the Phillips Fast Fit MSR Gold lamp and superior optics to provide an output of 22000 lumens. The result is a versatile, variable speed projector, producing a bi-directional rainbow effect - keeping the atmosphere changing spect

India - The Commonwealth Games Opening & Closing Ceremonies in Delhi turned out to be a slap in the face to the media who were expecting an event of epic failure. Despite inconsistent power, organisational issues, rampant Dengue fever and alleged terrorist threats, the ceremonies were a resounding success.

For audio production company Norwest Productions, it was all par for the course. The company first came to international attention a decade ago when they supplied the audio requirements for the Sydney Olympic Games ceremonies. Since then they have earned the reputation as a world leader in successfully tackling the audio requirements of large scale stadium shows racking up successful events such as two of the three Summer Olympics, both Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games in Doha. This year alone they have serviced the Vancouver Winter Olympics, Singapore Youth Olympics and

The 17-19 June performances are being staged in association with impresario Raymond Gubbay, who staged the first opera at the London arena earlier this year.

USA - For more than three decades, the Meadowlands has been a part of life for New York area football fans. When plans were begun to replace the aging arena, some fans were surprised to learn that, rather than a modern domed structure, the new stadium would be built in much the same traditional open-bowl style as the old one.

But while the aerial view of the New Meadowlands Stadium is reminiscent of the original Meadowlands, the similarities stop there. The new stadium is bigger and better in every way, including a host of powerful new A/V and broadcast technologies.

One of the more challenging areas in the stadium is the concession zone, covered by a series of Community R.5 two-way full-range loudspeakers. As Mark Graham, associate with sound design firm WJHW explains, the R.5s were chosen as much for their performance as for their durability.

"The concession areas are

UK - Adlib Audio has purchased an L-Acoustics KARA modular WST line source system. The new system, together with Adlib's K1 and KUDO cabinets, left the Liverpool-based rental company's premises immediately on Doctor Who Live, which has been touring the UK during October and November. This was also the first tour for K1, which Adlib purchased back in the summer.

The show stars Doctor Who monsters including the Daleks and Cybermen, and features Matt Smith as the Doctor and Nigel Planer as 'intergalactic showman' Vorgenson. Special effects, optical illusions and pyrotechnics accompany video content on a giant screen, soundtracked by the scores of Doctor Who's composer, Murray Gold, which are brought to life by a 16-piece orchestra. This is combined with cast dialogue, choir vocals, additional orchestral stems, VT playback character dialogue and special effects.

UK - Ofcom is calling on licensed wireless microphone users to register for a Government funding scheme set up earlier this year to help pay for the replacement of channel 69 equipment. This equipment will stop working in 2012. The scheme closes on 31 December 2010.

Countries across Europe are clearing a block of frequencies to make way for new services like next-generation mobile broadband. Part of this block - called channel 69 (854-862 MHz) - is used by wireless microphones.

Replacement frequencies for channel 69 have been made available in channel 38 (606-614 MHz) as well as other frequencies - but existing microphones will need to be replaced or modified to work at these new frequencies.

In July 2010, the Government announced that it will be providing a contribution towards the cost of new equipment for those users who are eligible under the terms of the scheme. Those a

He comments: "With such a project, where I need to cover a huge area and deal with long throw distances, the MAC 2000 Wash XB gives me the flexibility to program mult

UK - Conference Technical Facilities (CTF) fielded no fewer than 10 Christie Roadster HD12K projectors for a recent high profile media launch by HTC Corporation at London's Old Billingsgate Market, attended by around 300 journalists.

Tasked with meeting a challenging brief by leading production agency, Sutherland Smith Group, they produced an impressive semi-circular floor-to-ceiling front projected wrap-around display. This provided the backdrop for the telecom giant to showcase its latest Android-based smart-phones.

London-based CTF have wide experience of working with Christie projection, having chosen Christie as their preferred partner many years ago. UK - Lightfactor, distributor for Italian manufacturer Novalight, has sold more Nova-Flower 2K high powered 'flower' effect units to STL, doubling the Kent-based rental company's hire stock of these popular 'specials'.

STL first invested in Novalight products last year, when Lightfactor supplied them with both Nova-Flower and High Ground units. These have proved an enormous success, both for use on STL's own shows and as a cross hire item, necessitating the purchase of more Nova-Flowers. These were delivered just in time for the annual Fireworks Spectacular at Leeds Castle.

STL's Phil Parsons designed an environmental lighting scheme located around the main Leeds Castle building which was a vital component of the multi-layered visuals for this acclaimed event. Lasers were also involved in supporting the central pyro extravaganza designed by Alchemy Fireworks.
