Amsterdam's AIR features Void Acoustics sound system
The Netherlands - Void Acoustics reports a major new club installation in Amsterdam, involving its signature Air Motion triple horns and the new Trinity X sub. The brainchild of successful Dutch event organiser and promoter Sander Groet, AIR is located on the former site of iT club and is packed with the latest audio visual technologies and innovative systems. The club features an interior design by Marcel Wanders, and can accommodate audiences of up to 1300.

Finding the right sound system involved a major search. as Sjoerd Wynia - one of the three directors behind AIR, comments, "We started out with a bare shell that fortunately already had a thick layer of sound isolation already in place - the architect obviously knew of the site's history. The sound system is the very heart of the club, and we looked at lots of different options. Void invited us to check out the sound at Matter, and when we heard it, knew it was perfect for AIR.

The installation was handled by Void's new Dutch dealership, Soundfreax/Void Benelux, putting in the massive system in a tight timescale. The club space is divided into two dance halls and five bars, designed as a completely scalable venue that provides an intimate space irrespective of the numbers on a given night.

The main sound system comprises six Air Motion horns, with four Mycro 8 cabinets and eight of Void's new sub - the 21" Trinity X. Careful speaker positioning was required to overcome the number of delays in the different spaces, with Void's Alex Skan working with Void Benelux to achieve the optimum result. The complete sound system line-up includes 12 Air Tens, eight Waveform 10 cabinets, and another new Void product - the Waveform 215, which uses two 15" woofers instead of a single 12". Twenty-two Void Infinite amplifiers and five Xilica DSP processors, provide an impressive powerhouse of up to 40kW.
