UK - Mark Ronson’s ‘Broken Heart’ visual and lighting design concept was initiated by his creative director Jed Skrzypczak and is a combination of two mirrored silver heart set pieces which wrap the DJ booth, coupled with integrated lighting that is co-designed by award winning LD Tim Routledge and Ben Cash from Flare Lighting.
Framing these scenic pieces are four ‘half heart’ lighting props, graceful curved metal stems each rigged with 21 equidistantly-spaced Astera AX3 Light Drop wireless LED fixtures - 84 in total.
The artist wanted something eye-catching and cool to go match the music – a largely fluid set, carefully crafted for each show, with some centrepiece anthems and other parts inspired by the magic and vibe of the moment.

India - Powersoft has named Preeti Trading Corporation (PTC) its distributor for South West India.
The company supports various commercial projects in the region, with its core customer base consisting of small and medium-sized enterprises that sell and install audio equipment for use in commercial, governmental, corporate and public buildings.

Greece - Effective today (5 August), Sirius Sound & Lighting Systems is the exclusive distributor of RCF for Greece.
A newly-established company, Sirius Sound will seek to create “a solid and long-term business relationship with its customers and support a nationwide network.” The company is also focused on training and seminars in Italy through the RCF Audio Academy, where targeted seminars are conducted by specialists.
RCF sales manager Massimo Bruni, comments: “We selected Sirius Sound in view of the high technical qualification of their managers, which will help RCF consolidate its primary role in the Greek market.”

USA - Elation sale representative companies RL Wilson & Associates and JLH Marketing have hired Grant Geiselman as a product specialist. He will assist both firms with product demos and overall knowledge of all Elation Professional product lines.
Geiselman, who has been involved in the entertainment technology industry since the age of 13, has developed a comprehensive technical skill set that includes lighting design, programming, networking, software development and more. Most recently working as a freelance designer and programmer, he has extensive experience working on lighting and video design projects across Southern California.

Europe - Area Four Industries has released a four-minute video dedicated to the Ultimate Hinge from Milos.
The product, an aluminium and steel truss that allows for up and down and side-to-side movements of truss spans, features a high-strength lifting eye for connection with electric hoists or lifting points.
In the video, Area Four Industries technical director Norbert Tripp explains the design of the Ultimate Hinge, its feature set, loading capacity factors and the self-balancing act it achieves when attached to truss spans.

UK - Church installation specialists Sound4Churches in recent months has conducted on-site demos (in conjunction with Neville Raine from JHS, HK Audio's UK distributor) which have resulted in a number of installs being commissioned, all using HK Audio Elements line array systems.
Elements has proved a solution for sound reinforcement in a variety of acoustically difficult buildings where clarity of speech is of paramount importance, but the ability to deliver high quality full range music is also necessary, for both playback and the amplification of live instruments.

Europe - Melbourne’s alt-metal titans, Twelve Foot Ninja (TFN), have recently completed a European run of festival appearances and sold-out headline shows, with a dLive Wings digital mixing system.
Performing at multiple festivals including Download (UK), Rock The Coast (Spain) and Nummirock (Finland), the band needed a space-saving system that could fit in any FOH position and be easily transported from show to show. To accomplish this, they adapted their dLive system in a number of ways, often leaving their usual C1500 surface on the bus and hitting performances with just a CDM32 MixRack, an IP8 remote controller and a laptop running dLive Director software.

UK - White Light has supplied the lighting equipment for the recent West End transfer of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin following its critically-acclaimed UK tour.
Based on Louis de Bernières’ best-selling novel, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin is the story of romance in the face of the Second World War set on the idyllic Greek island of Cephallonia. The production marks the novel’s first major theatrical adaptation and marks the 25th anniversary since its original publication. For both the UK tour and West End run, the lighting design was by Malcolm Rippeth.

USA - Australian band Ocean Alley completed a 32-city tour of the US and Canada earlier this summer. For the mainly small venue dates, Max Baldwin, the band’s lighting designer utilised Professional Rogue R1X Spot fixtures supplied by Squeek Lights.
“Our entire idea was to get looks in 400 or 500 capacity rooms with limited stage in North America that were similar to what we got at giant festivals and amphitheatres in Australia,” says Baldwin. “Obviously, we couldn’t duplicate the Australian looks exactly, but we could reflect the spirit of those shows with a smaller rig. The Rogues were essential to our plans. Working them with the various house rigs we encountered gave us a lot of options.”

Germany - Robe’s new IP65-rated iPointe moving lights were prominent among lighting fixtures on the main stage at this year’s Elements Festival, a two-day showcase of house music in the amusement park at Dormettingen, 80km southwest of Stuttgart, Germany.
The festival is staged in a picturesque environment landscape and built on a former mining area, complete with its own artificial lake and beach. The event features three vibrant stages of music and is known for its high production values.
Lighting for the main stage - located in a natural dip in the topography - was designed by Raphael Herrmann whose company Prolite Event also co-ordinated the supply of the lighting kit which included eight Robe Pointes and 16 LEDBeam 150s as well as the 22 iPointes, plus some other lights.

The Netherlands - Philips Stadion, home to PSV in Eindhoven, is the first venue in the world to install ArenaMatch DeltaQ loudspeaker line arrays and ArenaMatch Utility loudspeakers from Bose Professional.
Audio, video and lighting sales and rental firm Bazelmans AV completed the installation of the Bose loudspeakers at the 35,000-capacity stadium in time for kick off of the team’s first game of the second half of the season early this year.

UK - Four events sector businesses have been merged into a new full-service company called Star Live.
Live events equipment supplier Star Events, event management agency Mobile Promotions, brand partnership agency BluePeg and staffing business Beautiful Minds - all owned by entrepreneur David Walley - will adopt the new name and brand identity with immediate effect, while founders of the four companies will form part of Star Live’s senior management team.
The merger was preceded by the recent acquisition of Star Events in July. All four businesses have been acquired by Walley within the last 18 months.

The new model enables the full rack to securely swing away from the wall, giving technicians and installation engineers excellent access to the rear and sides of the rack and the kit inside of it. Each performance features the works: costumes, props and a full orchestra accompanying the Grammy-award winning artist as he brings to life his hits including Amish Paradise White & Nerdy and Smells Like Nirvana.

USA - St. Leo the Great church was established in Lincroft, New Jersey over 60 years ago during the area’s suburban boom of the late 1950s. Its sanctuary seats around 800 people but provides tough acoustics for intelligibility, a problem that had previously been dealt unsatisfactorily with several lines of delay loudspeakers.
Recently, local AV integration firm Concept Professional Systems designed and installed a simple new sound reinforcement system at the church. Ditching the delays and relying on Danley Sound Labs’ pattern control and phase-coherent, long distance throw, the church now enjoys intelligible speech and lively music reinforcement from the front pew to the back pew.

One of the recent concepts that Robert designed was the Castle Lite Unlocks Post Malone concert held at the TicketPro Dome Johannesburg on 18 June.
An event with international acts comes with its own pre-requisites and between the expectation of the audience and the client, Robert Grobler had to ensure the planning and execution of concept would be world-class. China - Since it was founded 21 years ago, Cellosound has grown to become the premier audio production company in Guangzhou, the city at the heart of the most-populous metropolitan area in mainland China. Completed in 1907, it remains one of the largest and most impressive self-supporting greenhouses in the world, housing more than 1,400 exotic plant species. On Friday 19 July, the impressive structure took on another important function when it served as the centre of the Berlin-Dahlem Botanical Garden’s Botanische Nacht, an annual one-day summer festival organized by TLT Event AG that features music, magic shows, fantastical tales and non-stop fun in the heart of the German capital.
Glowing like a giant space ship, the massive domed structure that turned out for this night-time event. Outlining the building’s architectural features captivated the large crowd and adding to its stunning appearance were 110 Chauvet Professional ÉPIX Strip IP fixtures that Denny Arndt featured in his lighting design.
