The Grévin gives visitors an opportunity to mingle and be photographed with their celebrity idols

France - Founded in 1882, the Musée Grévin is a world-famous wax museum located on the Grands Boulevards in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, on the right bank of the River Seine.

With close attention paid to the tiniest detail of the décor, the Grévin gives visitors an opportunity to mingle and be photographed with their celebrity idols in typically Parisian settings.

As historic a Paris landmark as the Grévin undoubtedly is, the museum is very forward-looking in its commitments to delivering a modern, immersive, multi-media visitor experience, and creating a much sought-after venue for private parties and corporate events.

With high-quality sound central to both, the Grévin’s technical director recently contacted audio-visual integrations specialists Atelier du Son et de l'Image (ADSI) to design and install a new sound system in the iconic Salle des Colonnes and Salle de la Couple (Hall of Columns and Dome).

“We love projects that are a little out of the ordinary and have provided many tailor-made AV solutions in visitor attractions across France,” reports ADSI chargé d’affaire Bertrand Gazi.

“We have already worked in the Palais des Mirages (Hall of Mirrors) at the Grévin and the brief for the Salle des Colonnes and Salle de la Couple was for a visually discreet, easy-to-operate system with enough power and headroom for events.

“We chose Nexo ID24s because they are very compact while still providing all the performance required.”

The full system at the Salle des Colonnes comprises eight ID24 with sub bass extension from two IDS110 and amplification and processing from a Nexo NanoNXAMP4D (Dante) Powered TD Controller, and two channels of a Dante-equipped NXAMP4x1MK2.

In the adjoining Salle de la Couple, four ID24s and one IDS110 are powered by another NanoNXAMP4D and one channel of the NXAMP4x1MK2.

The team at ADSI also configured a touchscreen-based Zendeo show control system from Videmus, with a matrix and digital mixer capable of handling a wide range of events with versatile input connectivity available throughout the venue.

“The discretion and efficiency of the Nexo ID Series is perfect in the rooms, providing a well-balanced sound with enough pressure for a DJ set,” says Bertrand in conclusion.

“We had only four days to complete this installation because the museum was closed for maintenance for just five days, and they hadn't been closed for a single day in four years. The customer was amazed by the system's performance and coverage.”
