UK - Avolites Media's industry-beating server 'Ai' has been powering the fast-paced visuals for Sky TV's popular spring series of Got to Dance. A total of four Ai Server systems, running on Mac Towers, two main and two backup, were supplied to the production by video rental house Creative Technology.

Respected TV lighting and visual media programmer Russ Grubiak - who has worked on a number of high rating shows including the X Factor, Big Brother, and Friday Night with Jonathan Ross - chose to use the powerful Avolites Media Server Ai to manipulate the end visual output for Series 4 of the show, which was created to discover the best dance act in the UK.

Spain - Audi wowed audiences in both Madrid and Barcelona with the Audi A3 Experience, the automobile brand's stunning audiovisual spectacular, combining 360° projections, 3D mapping and Showmaster Control to publicise its new A3 Sportback. Produced by New Media Creative Technology Studio, the show used different Christie projectors and Christie MicroTiles videowalls supplied by Ingevideo.

The event was staged first in Plaza de Colón in Madrid between 28 February and 8 March, and then in Plaza de Cataluña in Barcelona from 16 to 23 March.

The show was held in a special geodesic dome. A true landmark in modern engineering, this igloo-like structure was designed and created by the US company Pacific Domes using a sophisticated negative pressure system that makes the metal structure vanish to create a 800 square metre screen.

UK - Chaos Visual Productions were the video supplier of choice for the inaugural Taste Festival at London's newest venue space, Tobacco Dock at Wapping Lane, East London. This historic Victorian warehouse has been converted into a modern multi-functional facility comprising over 16,000m2. The Lab at Tobacco Dock was hosted by Gizzi Erskine, the TV chef and food writer and was organised in partnership with AEG, the home appliance manufacturer.

The Chaos team, headed up by project manager Mick Jones, provided projection for a live relay screen on the AEG Live Stage where top chefs and culinary experts presented their perspective on how they create inspirational menus. The executive chef from the Fat Duck Group, Ashley Palmer-Watts was presenting alongside the renowned forager Miles Irving on the AEG Live Stage as did Tony Conigliaro, the ingenious drinks creator.

UK - The Award-winning Broadway musical, Rent, was first workshopped in New York in 1993. To celebrate this 20 year landmark, a new concert production under the direction of Daniel Wood recently toured around the UK. With packed houses and standing ovations nightly, it's no surprise that additional dates are already set to take place in the Autumn.

The production, designed by Ben M Rogers, included LED display solutions from XL Video, used to frame the performance as well as the option to integrate live camera footage and original work from video content designer Zoe Hitchen.

For the scenic pieces, XL Video supplied 16 small 2 x 1 tile screens of semi-transparent Pixled F-40 LED. During the show these were used both separately and together to form a complete screen.

USA - ArKaos' North American distributor, A.C. Lighting Inc, has supplied an ArKaos Stage Media Server with Media Master software and Video Mapper feature, to theWit, a AAA Four Diamond Hotel in Chicago. The new system has been installed to facilitate customised visual experiences for the hotel's newly-opened, state-of-the-art 3D mapping installation, the Wall.

Located in its roof-top bar and cocktail lounge, ROOF, theWall is the first of its kind, being a permanent 3D mapping installation that provides immersive visual and optical illusion entertainment to the corporate hospitality world.

Measuring approximately 20ft wide by 12ft tall, theWall integrates the ArKaos Stage Server with sophisticated robotic cameras and intricate stage lighting on a custom designed and built 3D projection surface with motion production capability and a retractable flat screen.

South Africa - Forming part of the Samsung Galaxy S4 World Tour, the Galaxy S4 was launched to the South African market at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg recently and attended by some 2000 guests.

The elaborate event consisted of two parts; a formal conference followed by a spectacular surprise party where the entertainment included everything from aerial acts to ballerinas in LED tutus and popular DJs.

This was the largest event Victor Vermaak from AV Unlimited (AVU) had worked on as production manager. AVU were commissioned to supply the full technical.

The greatest challenge for Vermaak and Garrith Castelyn (AVU's in house creative and designer) was designing a concept that would fit into the budget without losing the essence of the concept pitched.

UK - West Midlands-based technical solutions specialist Central Presentations Ltd (CPL) has been appointed as the preferred technical supplier for Stoneleigh Events.

Stoneleigh Events' venue, Stoneleigh Park, is set in theWarwickshire countryside just 30 minutes outside the commercial hub of Birmingham and also in close proximity to CPL's HQ. CPL will be offering all the sound, lighting, video and AV equipment, and technical support required for corporate and live events, plus exhibitions.

CPL was invited to tender for the position after Stoneleigh Events had learned of the company's fresh and innovative approach, especially with regard to visual presentation of all types.

UK - As the nail biting Champions League Final came to an end at Wembley Stadium, Bluman Associates was hard at work at the Natural History Museum setting the scene for the official after party for German football team Borussia Dortmund this Saturday (25th March).

Bluman Associates managed the technical production for a mapped building projection onto the front of the historic building for creative agency Unspun Ltd.

The highly anticipated final saw German rivals Borussia Dortmund take on Bayern Munich where victory was clenched in the 89th minute for Bayern Munich, with a goal from Arjen Robben making the final score 2 - 1.

Video-heavy, it's a visual feast of light, colour and movement backed up with epic rock show lighting. This has seen LD Andy 'Foxy' Smyth harnessing the power of Titan 7 in its most concentrated form.

Sweden - It may not be the Aurora Borealis, but the giant Christie MicroTiles video wall engineered by Electrosonic at the LKAB Visitor Centre in Koskullskulle, Sweden, is lighting up the north.

LKAB (Luossavaara-Kiirunavaara Aktiebolag) is the world's technical leader in supplying iron ore pellets, acquired from underground mining, to the global steel industry. Its rich magnetite mines are located in the north of Sweden above the Arctic Circle. A new research centre in Koskullskulle includes a visitor centre that welcomes guests to the nearby Malmberget mine. LKAB's iron ore mining operations are among the most productive in the world and feature automated processes that result in the "greenest" production of iron.

UK - When British rock band Whitesnake took to the stage this May for an eight date UK arena tour, the gigs featured their first ever live backdrop, brought to life by video services production specialist Bluman Associates. This featured a cohesive mix of logos and album inspired artwork spanning the band's 35 year legacy alongside live streamed close up shots capturing all the action.

Bluman Associates provided the technical production for the video for the whole tour and designed all the content in-house, following the creation of the company's design department earlier in 2013.

A 40ft by 20ft backdrop was the canvas for the projection. This also cleverly hid the video wall set up that co-headliner and fellow rock legends Journey were using for their set, making the quick turn-around between acts possible through a simple reveal.

CT has invested in over 350 500mm x 500mm modules of the MC's new 7mm range manufactured by screen specialist displayLED, to provide high impact displays on the impressive production of P!nk's Truth About Love tour, designed by Baz Halpin and Chris Nyfield.

The set consists of 10 separate configurations of MC7 modules, built around the centrepiece of a 'dressed' heart-shaped 6m tall MC7 screen, flanked by four moving video 'picture frames' which fly spectacularly around the set throughout the show. In addition, four columns of MC7 rise from the stage behind the band while, further back, another screen forms a backdrop for P!nk's dramatic departure on a descending lift.

Belgium - Barco has expanded its successful HDX family of three-chip DLP projectors with a new member. The HDX-W20 FLEX shares the on-board image processing, compact design, easy servicing, and preview mode features with its W12, W14 and W18 cousins, but offers a light output of 20,000 lumens.

Additionally, the HDX-W20 FLEX will be standard equipped with the light-on-demand option, which gives rental companies the flexibility to tune their projector's light output to the specific needs of their customer's event.
