With O'Neill controlling his lighting rig with his tried-and-trusted Avolites Arena console, and the video content run through Avolites Ai media server operated by Tim Hornung, the band's European tour is showcasing the cutting edge of light and video control. O'Neill, who was responsible for both set and lighting design, created a raised performance area backed, flanked and fronted in LED screen. AVIXA, formerly known as InfoComm International, has administered the CTS programme for more than 30 years, with more than 11,000 CTS holders – 500 of which are in the UK. CTS holders are recognised as technology specialists within the industry, with part of the programme being a requirement for continuous learning. As a result, CTS holders must regularly attend training courses to maintain their accreditation. Certainly not for their recent concert at show designer Alex Reardon and production manager JB Blot successfully transplanted a full-scale US arena production into this most enigmatic of venues. “It was an unusual day,” began Reardon. “Normally when you do one-offs it’s the tiny things that get missed and then they snowball into chaos. But not this day. Neg Earth were great, Video Design were great. The band were happy. Their management were happy and the show went very well. It will be based in the Vasai area and headed by Rodney D’Monte. Czech Republic - Perhaps one of the most unusual cultural buildings in Europe, the airship at DOX Centre for Contemporary Art in Prague appears to float above the surrounding buildings. For those that venture inside it, a Yamaha audio system proves that the sound. Named after fictional traveller Gulliver, the 42m long, 120-capacity steel and wood airship features a zeppelin-shaped structure on top and is a permanent space for lectures, exhibitions, screening and other cultural events.
