USA - The Link at Cascade, a major mixed-use development in the heart of Miami, now shines as a beacon visible from US Highway1 and the Miami Metrorail. Designed by internationally renowned Arquitectonica, the 5.57-acre project features a 404,000sq.ft residential tower with 421 units, 13,000sq.ft of retail, and 25,000sq.ft of vibrant public plaza space. A defining feature of the development is Cascade, a dynamic exterior lighting design that brings the building’s expansive façade to life.

The Cascade lighting concept, developed by John DiDomenico of Skyline Arts, uses TMB’s FloppyFlex LED Neon to create bold, abstract lines across the tower’s otherwise understated exterior. France - Three Groupe Novelty companies mobilised their respective technical expertise to deploy a night-time audiovisual immersive experience for the Parc des Oiseaux with a 17,000 m² projection onto a semi dried out lake.

Located 30km North of Lyon (France) as the crow flies, the Parc des Oiseaux welcomes 280,000 visitors every year between April and October, when birds migrate back to this region which boasts over 1,300 ponds. To extend its appeal into the winter months, the largest bird park in Europe has taken on a new technical and artistic challenge with Les Nuits du Parc: an immersive night-time trail which ran from November to March 2025.

USA - Country superstars Brooks & Dunn wrapped their 2025 Neon Moon Tour at the end of April with a lighting package from Bandit Lites. The Country Music Hall of Fame duo followed up their 2019 Reboot album with Reboot II in 2024, introducing a new generation to country music’s greatest hits.

World - Toto and their engineers are well established in the music industry. When a colleague suggested to Ken Freeman, Toto’s front-of-house engineer, that he should swap to DiGiCo, he agreed and the switch became permanent.

Starting with an SD 10, then the Quantum 338, he recently upgraded to a Quantum 852 for the 2024 Dogz of Oz tour and has never looked back. Steve Kallos, at the monitor position, could not have imagined swapping from his SD10, but when his trusted console was not available, the Quantum 338 was “thrust upon” him – and he is very glad it was.

The new setup features Funktion-One’s latest technological developments, bringing an enhanced level of audio performance to the venue’s world-famous sunset sessions and high-profile events.

USA - The highly anticipated Grand Opening Celebration of the National Medal of Honor Museum took place on 22 March, with a nighttime spectacular that showcased Elation lighting with the company’s new ultra-long-throw Proteus Atlas beam FX fixture taking centre stage. Located in the heart of Arlington, Texas, and the newest national museum in the United States, the National Medal of Honor Museum honours US Armed Forces personnel who took extraordinary action in the service of others.

Designed by renowned Rafael Viñoly Architects, the museum is a tribute to over 3,500 Medal of Honor recipients and the millions of Americans who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Canada - Riedel Communications has announced that Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena has implemented Riedel MediorNet decentralised routing as part of the venue’s reimagination, with the help of system integrator Matrix Video Communications Corp (MVCC).

MediorNet provides much-needed flexibility and reduces set-up time when production teams switch from hockey mode to basketball mode in the arena, or one of hundreds of other events throughout the year. Similarly, the arena’s new Riedel intercom ecosystem, consisting of a Riedel Artist intercom system, Riedel Bolero Wireless Beltpacks, and Riedel SmartPanels, greatly simplifies communications.

Japan - World Expo 2025 opened in Osaka on 13 April, returning to the Japanese city that hosted its first World Expo some 55 years ago.

Covering a 960-acre site on the Yumeshima (Dream Island), more than 160 countries are showcasing their cultures, crafts, technologies and visions of the future in a series of exhibits that includes the extraordinary France Pavilion, designed and operated by official French exhibition organisers Cofrex. Located at the entrance to the Expo, the visually striking venue is expected to welcome more than 20,000 visitors each day over the coming six months.

USA - Friendship Village retirement facility in Kalamazoo, MI, recently commissioned a complete overhaul of the audio-visual infrastructure at its Kiva Auditorium.

Set on a 72-acre campus, the Auditorium is used for events, meetings, and community activities and is now also perfect to host smaller shows and concerts.

Design consultant Tim Heneveld (from HAV Design) specified Martin Audio’s O-Line micro-array solution for the sound reinforcement, installed by system integrators, Division 16 Technologies. The design company had been selected by the Friendship Village team after intensive research into which AV design company could best meet their requirements.

USA - Brigham Young University-Idaho has invested in 14 Ayrton Cobra2 fixtures for its Rexburg campus.

Cobra2 is a phosphor laser source luminaire with an extreme range of focus and excellent colour reproduction. Its IP65 rating makes it a suitable choice for outdoor conditions.

Patrick Laing, lighting designer with BYU-Idaho’s AV and Broadcast Productions, says the university already had Ayrton Khamsin, Ghibli, Argo 6 FX and Zonda 3 FX fixtures and was looking for an IP-rated beam to cover more outdoor student events.

Presenting a wide range of DJ sets and live performances, the venue is the second project by the Sheng Live Show brand, who approached supplier ST Audio to consult over a complete audio package. Switzerland - Basel-based lighting and scenic designer Lukas Marian chose Claypaky Tambora Batten Squares and Sinfonya Profile 600 fixtures for the world premiere of Oresteia. The dance production by choreographers Frank Fannar Pedersen and Javier Rodriguez Cobos debuted with the St. Gallen Dance Company at the Konzert & Theater St. Gallen.

Based on Greek mythology, Oresteia features an immersive scenography and lighting design by Marian with embedded Claypaky fixtures that achieve a special aesthetic. The original Oresteia is a trilogy of fifth-century BCE Greek tragedies by Aeschylus concerning the murder of Agamemnon by Clytemnestra, the murder of Clytemnestra by Orestes, the trial of Orestes, the end of the curse on the House of Atreus, and the pacification of the Furies.

USA - Situated in Fredericksburg, VA, the 1,200-seat multipurpose Dodd Auditorium, at the University of Mary Washington (UMW), has been treated to a new, fully DSP-optimised Wavefront Precision line array from Martin Audio.

The installation, which comprises hangs of seven elements per side, was undertaken by Martin Audio partner, Soundworks of Virginia.

Soundworks had worked at the venue many times over the years as a rental provider, notably at commencement ceremonies. Their CEO Steve Payne observed, “At these events all parents really care about is hearing their kid’s name read out clearly. But this was always a challenge over a 250ft throw distance.” But this is just one of a variety of events hosted at the venue, including all types of performance arts, lectures and movies.

UK - Media City’s new Content Studio and co-working space at White Tower in Salford offers a blank canvas for influencers, photographers, producers, film makers, and other creatives, where they can share ideas, collaborate on projects, and make connections.

An important feature of the new Studio is its audio system, which was delivered by experienced Salford-based specialists Hollowsphere AV, who recommended and installed a Pioneer Pro Audio system from the company’s CM-Series of commercial audio products.
