USA - Audio-Technica mourns the passing of Ken Reichel, former Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Audio-Technica U.S. Ken passed away on October 15 2010, at his home in Richmond, Virginia. A fixture in the professional audio industry, having first played key roles for other microphone manufacturers, Ken joined Audio-Technica in May 1982, and he served the company in various leadership capacities through his retirement in June of 2000.

Audio-Technica U.S. experienced strong growth under Ken's management. He drove market development and promotion for many innovative products, notably UniPoint installed-sound microphones and A-T's 40 Series studio microphones. He was also a strong force behind A-T entering the wireless microphone category and the company's longstanding relationship with the Olympics.

Goodrich joins Harman Professional from Altel Systems Group, where he was vice president of business development, leading the development of integrated audio/visual and communication systems for the airport, mass transit, and hospitality industries. Italy - Giovanni Turrin is Proel Group's new Chief Financial Officer. Fabrizio Sorbi, Proel Group's president made the announcement and highlighted the corporate role of this position.

Turrin, who commands extensive knowledge of all financial functions earned while working for audit companies and major industrial groups, will report directly to Massimo Signor, the company's managing director.

UK - Theatre planning and design practice Fisher Dachs Associates has announced the opening of its new office in the UK. The Stratford-upon-Avon office joins FDA offices in New York City and Seattle, Washington, and will be led by Flip Tanner who comes to FDA directly from a 19-year career at the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC).

UK - In an ongoing bid to strengthen regional representation, QSC has announced the new team that will be responsible for Europe, Africa & Middle East (EAME).

QSC VP global sales, Greg McLagan, has confirmed that former JBL man Mark Bailey will take over as sales manager for the territory, supported by new product applications specialist (for engineered systems), Martin Barbour, while existing product specialist, Santiago Alcala will take on a more general support role.

USA - Liberty AV Solutions president John Dace has announced that effective as of this date, Greg Baltzer will man the company's territory manager/North Central post. Baltzer takes charge from his home base in metro Minneapolis, and joins Liberty as a key figure within a wide-sweeping sales force reorganization announced recently implementing a new national inside-outside model.

UK - Paul Sadler, founder of Delstar Engineering, part of the Stage Technologies Group, and now a senior engineering consultant with the operation in Suffolk, has recently been incorporated as a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Sadler is a chartered engineer who specialises in modern theatre hydraulics and is actively involved with the running of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers Eastern Area, acting as treasurer for the organisation. He is also a technical associate of the Royal National Theatre and received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Association of British Theatre Technicians in 2009.

Shuttlewood spent the past 10 years working in the broadcast and systems integrator markets at pro audio technology supplier HHB.

"Claude is very well regarded and played a vital role within Sennheiser's pro audio sales team," says Nigel Mann, business area manager - pro systems. "But Lee's extensive experience in broadcast and systems integration means that he is already proving his worth."

UK - The Association of British Theatre Technicians (ABTT) has bestowed its top accolade on Chris Higgs, a PLASA National Rigging Certificate Assessor and manager of the Birmingham NRC assessment centre.

The ABTT Fellowship, given only to individuals who have rendered significant service in the technical aspects of theatre, was announced at the Association's annual Christmas Party, hosted by ETC at London's Theatre Royal Drury Lane last Friday.
