UK - Tutankhamun: The Immersive Exhibition opened at Excel London in March 2025, inviting visitors to step inside the story of the boy king in a spectacular reimagining of Ancient Egypt. Produced by FKP Scorpio Entertainment and created by Madrid Artes Digitales (MAD), the 26,000sq.ft experience blends archaeology, storytelling and immersive technology.

At the heart of the show is a towering 8m-high, 360-degree projection-mapped environment – an engineering feat designed to transport audiences to a richly detailed ancient world. This central immersive space, known as the ‘black box’, was designed and installed by Belgian multimedia specialists Painting with Light (PWL), with projection powered by Epson and media playback delivered by Hive’s high-performance Beeblade system.

Portugal - In March 2025, the MEO Arena in Lisbon hosted two nights of an unforgettable concert by Portuguese singer and musician, Tony Carreira. One of the major highlights of the show was the lighting design, which provided a breathtaking visual experience for this heartfelt performance.

Ayrton fixtures, specifically Veloce Profile, Kyalami, and Cobra models, played a crucial role in creating a special atmosphere for the event. Lighting designer Ramiro Martins praised the excellence of these fixtures, which delivered remarkable light definition, vibrant colours, and innovative effects.

A total of 76 Veloce Profiles, 32 Kyalami, and 22 Cobra were used, with the Veloce Profile and Cobra fixtures rigged on the upper trusses, and the Kyalami fixtures placed on the stage floor and at the sides.

Canada - Pierre E. Roy lit a recent sold-out performance of La Légende by comedian Dave Gaudet at the Place Bell in Laval, Quebec. Following a vision guided by what he describes as “Making light rock,” Roy animated his client’s witty and satirical performance with a dynamic lighting design that featured plenty of ballyhoo moments accented by special effects and atmospherics. Helping him was a versatile rig supplied by Nord-Scène that featured 57 Chauvet Professional fixtures.

Roy said this when describing his show: “When you think of a rock show, you think of raw energy, music that vibrates through your body and lighting that hits hard. This show, let’s be honest, was a visual slap in the face created with explosive colours, well-timed lighting breaks, and the balance between power and subtlety.

USA - The Link at Cascade, a major mixed-use development in the heart of Miami, now shines as a beacon visible from US Highway1 and the Miami Metrorail. Designed by internationally renowned Arquitectonica, the 5.57-acre project features a 404,000sq.ft residential tower with 421 units, 13,000sq.ft of retail, and 25,000sq.ft of vibrant public plaza space. A defining feature of the development is Cascade, a dynamic exterior lighting design that brings the building’s expansive façade to life.

The Cascade lighting concept, developed by John DiDomenico of Skyline Arts, uses TMB’s FloppyFlex LED Neon to create bold, abstract lines across the tower’s otherwise understated exterior. The challenge was considerable – illuminating a large, exposed surface with no exterior access and strict concealment limitations. From the earliest stages, FloppyFlex was centra

USA - Brigham Young University-Idaho has invested in 14 Ayrton Cobra2 fixtures for its Rexburg campus.

Cobra2 is a phosphor laser source luminaire with an extreme range of focus and excellent colour reproduction. Its IP65 rating makes it a suitable choice for outdoor conditions.

Patrick Laing, lighting designer with BYU-Idaho’s AV and Broadcast Productions, says the university already had Ayrton Khamsin, Ghibli, Argo 6 FX and Zonda 3 FX fixtures and was looking for an IP-rated beam to cover more outdoor student events.

The brightness of Cobra’s laser source easily cuts through other lighting, and its gobos and prisms, infinite pan and tilt, and saturated colours will offer Laing new creative options for a range of student activities. The fixtures have already been used in BYU-Idaho’s Hart Auditorium for a concert by a YouTube sensatio

The show has been designed by lighting designer Rosie Haigh, who is also Vari-Lite business development manager at Signify. Haigh’s design embraces a dynamic, textural approach that brings the band’s latest album, Oh! The Ocean, vividly to life on stage, without a single LED screen in sight.

As part of the creative brief, The Wombats asked Haigh – who has worked with the band for over two years – to move away from video walls, while still delivering rich depth and high-impact visuals upstage. In response Haigh harnessed the creative power of the VLHive 151 – a fully digital lighting fixture that merges high-output light, advanced
