USA - One of the first projects for mobile production specialist TNDV's recently-launched Exclamation truck was also one of the company's biggest shows logistically in its 13-year history, as it provided turnkey services for General Assembly 2016 (GA16), the flagship event of Cleveland, Tennessee-headquartered Church of God.

USA - Like the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and Radio City Rockettes, the Jingle Ball Tour concert at Madison Square Garden has become one of the Big Apple's iconic holiday events. Pharrell Williams, Calvin Harris and Maroon 5 have performed at the annual show; so too have Selena Gomez, The Weeknd and One Republic.

This year's concert will be just as diverse and star-studded with Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, The Chainsmokers, Meghan Trainor, Fifth Harmony, Ellie Goulding, Diplo, Charlie Puth, Lukas Graham, Daya, and Niall Horan scheduled to appear.

USA - The University of Massachusetts Boston held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, 17 October, ushering in a new era, and welcoming the public to tour the new arts and humanities building know as University Hall. Set on the shores of Boston Harbour, the multi-disciplinary 181,000sq.ft facility was a collaboration between Theatre Projects and Wilson Architects with acoustic work provided by Acentech.

Theatre Projects programed and designed the building's performing arts and support spaces and provided concept design, theatre planning, and theatre equipment design and specification for the $131m project, which is the second building to open under UMass Boston's Master Plan.

UK - The day-to-day lifeblood of the professional audio business is the thousands of smaller events and projects which receive much less publicity than major festivals, arena tours and high profile installations. These are serviced by an army of regional production companies like Base:Live, many of whom rely on Yamaha equipment to keep the wheels turning.

Europe - ALC NetworX, developers of the high performance RAVENNA audio networking technology, has announced the release of RAV2SAP, a useful RAVENNA-to-SAP freeware conversion tool designed to help connect RAVENNA devices to other AES67 devices.

ALC NetworX's Andreas Hildebrand explains why RAV2SAP is important. "Most people would agree that, in an ideal world, when setting up a network, it would be wonderful not to be limited in one's choice of devices on the network, or indeed one's choice of network protocol because of incompatibility issues.

USA - Philips Lighting will launch a raft of entertainment lighting on booth #1115 at the LDI Las Vegas exhibition, taking place October 21-23 at Las Vegas Convention Centre.

New additions to the entertainment range include luminaires such as the Philips Showline SL LEDSPOT 300 and Philips SL HYDRUS 350, which offer designers more dynamic effects to differentiate their shows. Lockdown Festival welcomed a sell-out crowd of 7,000 dance music lovers to the grounds of the majestic Powderham Castle, Exeter, and saw performances from Tinie Tempah, Katy B and Stormzy.

Turkmenistan - Visual production expert FIX8Group successfully managed and delivered a complex projection and content management project for an event staged by Turkish construction group Polimeks for the Government of Turkmenistan to launch the country's brand new, state of the art international airport.

FIX8Group sent in one of its top projection mapping teams for the unusual 10-day project, which culminated in a mixed media spectacular that centred around Turkmenistan culture and history. Held on 17 September at Ashgabat Stadium, the event was attended by more than 20,000 people.

UK - Colour Sound Experiment worked closely with innovative lighting designer Francis Clegg of MIRRAD to supply a full production lighting rig for rapper Kano's recent show-stopping gig at London's Brixton Academy.

This high profile show came amidst a run of other gigs around the country playing a mix of venues on this latest leg of the artist's Made in the Manor album campaign, for which they were using a trailer-sized specials lighting package. Brixton was effectively a one-off as well as the London showcase, and with no video, the pressure was all on lighting as the primary visual medium to produce something memorable and spectacular.
