UK / Malllorca - Aurora Lighting hire has once again been cast away to work with lighting designer Gurdip Mahal, adding some illumination to the latest season of Love Island for ITV2.

Liaising closely with LD Gurdip Mahal, Aurora project manager Joe Marter dealt with lighting lists and logistics to create and despatch a full location package to the island set - including an extensive selection of automated and fixed light sources along with location power and all relevant distribution and control equipment.

The project also required the team to create a variety of bespoke electronic installations and LED set pieces that were integrated throughout the islanders home environment.

Commenting on the project, Gurdip said, "I'd just like to thank Aurora for their support on Love Island. Being so far away from home it was great to have reliable equipment and the

USA - When Meytal Cohen, the drummer for and founding member of the heavy metal band Meytal, set out on her US tour, she wanted to go big and provide fans with superior audio quality at each venue. In order to achieve the huge sound she was looking for, Cohen turned to DPA Microphones' d:vote 4099D Instrument Microphones to amplify her drum set.

In 2009 at the age of 20, Cohen moved to Los Angeles and studied percussion at the Los Angeles Music Academy. That year, Cohen and some friends recorded a metal violin cover on video of System of a Down's Toxicity, which she then posted on YouTube. A few months later, the video had three million views and Cohen decided she was going to shoot and post 100 more drum covers to see what happened next. Five years later she has more than 120 videos, 140m views and 900,000 subscribers on YouTube, and more than 1.4m likes on Facebook.

Germany - When he is on stage, Sascha Grammel makes his puppets dance in the true sense of the word. The Netherlands - Three hundred and sixty Robe moving lights caught the action at the Philips Stadion in Eindhoven for four sold out concerts by Dutch singer, songwriter and superstar Guus Meeuwis, part of an eye-catching lighting spectacular designed by Marco Driessen from creative lighting and visual design practice, The Art of Light.

Meeuwis plays multiple shows at the 34,000 stadium around about the same time each year. It is home to the Philips Sport Vereniging (PSV) football team of which he's a keen supporter, and there is a completely unique look and feel to the stage year-on-year, originated by set designer Ronald van den Bersselaar of BEEO.

This year's theme featured a carnival-esque appearance based on the famous orange flag for Netherlands which was recreated using a combination of scenic and LED elements.

UK / USA - Including 105 arena shows, multiple nights in virtually every venue (including six at Madison Square Garden, London's O2 and the Los Angeles Staples Centre) and every show sold out far in advance - Adele's Live 2016 tour is big on both numbers and positive critical reviews. Those reviews have all focused on Adele's voice. The production intentionally lacks dancers and hi-tech special effects to ensure the attention of every audience member is solely on Adele and her voice. In order to achieve that focus, sound provider Black Box Music provided an L-Acoustics K2 system.

The show design dictated that audio equipment stay invisible, yet provide powerful, clear sound and, above all, be unfailingly reliable. As Front of House engineer Dave Bracey notes, "It's a classy show and, even more than usual, nothing is allowed to go wrong.

"Designing the system was a challeng

Germany - Much is written of large arena and stadia production tours, but how does the LD manage with a small 300-800 capacity club tour, with limited budget, limited infrastructure, limited space in the van - but still with the expectation to deliver plenty of 'bang for the buck'?

Simply ask Berlin-based freelance LD Rick Kay, who recently went on the road with '80s cult artiste Anne Clark, the British poet and spoken word performer.

Armed with video, lasers and an inventory of low-mass / high output LED heads from GLP he realized he could operate all the lighting from a single 13A socket.

"We were travelling in a van, and in the six weeks we were on the road the GLP X4 S and X1 really came into play," he admits. "LDs should consider these when they have to decide how much gear they can get into the available 2sq.m at the back of the van."

Event Sound and Light and KV2's dealings began in 2004 with the initial purchase of several ES Systems. 2005 saw them add to this with their first VHD system - KV2's flagship true point source approach to large-scale audio reinforcement.

Fast-forward to early 2016 - and following the addition of products from KV2's active EX range and passive ESD range - directors Paul Galley and Nigel Hills sought to increase their hire inventory further to accommodate the growing demand for their services.

Following countless memorable events and projects, ESL's experien

France - Situated in the heart of a region of rugby, The 19,500 capacity Stade Ernest-Wallon in Toulouse, is home to the famous Stade Toulousain French rugby union team.

To keep up with its international standing, the Stade Toulousain recently underwent a complete technical upgrade for its stadium. With the passing of time, new security /evacuation standards such as EN54-24 had been introduced and digital signal transport protocols streamlined with the introduction of Dante by Audinate.

The club approached local audio visual installation company Triaxe with whom they had worked, previously for a screen solution deployment - and the integration company embarked on a mission to find the best solution for the best value. The decision was for an advanced Powersoft Ottocanali system to power a D.A.S. stadium speaker system.

USA - Completed in January 2016, the Hynes Centre in Mercedes, TX USA is a 15,000sq.ft multi-purpose venue located in the Llano Grande Lake Park Resort. Although many touring artists carry a full sound system, the Hynes Centre chose to install its own, permanent system, based on Alcons line arrays. The system saw its first use for an Oak Ridge Boys three-night concert series in January.

Ziwa Corporation, a design/build construction company in Brownsville, Texas, constructed the Hynes Centre. Ziwa project development manager Scott Shull contacted the Oak Ridge Boys to discuss their audio needs. FOH engineer Marko Hunt recommended Alcons line arrays and Shull retained integrator, Third Street R&D, of Hollister, Missouri, to design and install an Alcons system for the venue.

Greg Carttar, Third Street R&D's owner, used nine Alcons LR7/90 Micro Line-Array modules per side supp

USA - A procession of over two dozen bands performed on stage at the ninth annual Purple Hatters Ball in mid-June, but this three-day festival has never really been just about the music. Set in a pastoral region of north Florida, and offering sessions in yoga, healing arts and meditation, Purple Hatters is as much about raising consciousness as it is about pleasing the ear buds.

This year's event had an appropriately expansive lightshow, thanks in part to the addition of the Rogue R1 FX-B LED fixture from Chauvet Professional.

Lighting designer John Hollingshead used 12 of the new Rogue fixtures, supplied by The Design Oasis, to create big, sweeping, transformative looks on stage that belied the relatively small size of his rig. The five independently controlled 3-watt RGB LED moving heads in each Rogue fixture, along with some extremely fast pan and tilt movements, helped
