The BCN Awards, organised by BCN Inc., aims to reward the best-selling vendors throughout the year for PC/digital consumer electronic products. The winners are selected based on the BCN ranking, which is calculated from daily POS data gathered from volume sellers in Japan.

The Netherlands - At the recent ISE show Work Pro unveiled the first devices to allow extensive app-based control over Bluetooth: updated versions of the company’s PA 100 MX installation amplifier and MD 82 AX auto-mixer.
The PA 100 MX is Work Pro’s half-rack, three-input 100W installation amplifier with two-line inputs and one mic input, a built-in feedback destroyer and a switchable low-impedance (4/8Ω) or 70/100V output. The Netherlands - The largest and busiest Integrated Systems Europe in its 15-year history drew record numbers of exhibitors and attendees from around the world for four days of business, education and networking at the RAI Amsterdam between 6-9 February.
The number of exhibitors totalled 1,296, of which 294 were exhibiting at ISE for the first time. Combined, they filled 53,000sq.m of exhibition floor space. Floor space already confirmed for ISE 2019 currently stands at 103% of the total booked for ISE 2018.
The number of registered visitors by the end of the show had reached 80,923, an increase of 10.3% on the 2017 edition. Over 30% of the total attendees were visiting ISE for the first time.

The announcement follows some confusion in the region following the decision by Jands Australia to no longer represent Harman in the Australian territory.

Cast Adrift - Cultural leaders have advocated for a special visa for performers and other creatives after Brexit, warning that Britain will be “cast adrift” if a solution that protects the arts is not found. Speaking at a House of Lords committee session, Andrew Hurst, chief executive of dance body One Dance UK, and the Musicians’ Union’s general secretary Horace Trubridge both argued that special immigration measures needed to be considered for cultural workers in the Brexit process due to the industry’s unique working patterns

South Africa - DWR Distribution, the local distributors of Philips Vari-Lite in reports that Gearhouse South Africa has invested in 48 Philips Vari-Lite VLZ Profile fixtures.
Awarded the technical supply contract for a television show season, which kicked off on M-Net 101 on 4 February, Gearhouse wanted a fixture that would be suitable for the long show run and which would suit both the client and lighting designer Joshua Cutts.
The Gearhouse team decided that maintenance costs and the replacement of lamps were an important factor, plus the shoot required very quiet fixtures.
Gearhouse South Africa’s investments over the years include Philips Showline products (SL Nitro 510) and now Vari-Lite, while Gearhouse Splitbeam, which provides professional equipment hire to the theatre industry, has owned Vari-Lite for some time already.

UK - The trust that Neg Earth Lights has put into EXE Technology products was demonstrated last year when they purchased over 200 new EXE-RISE units within a six-month period.
Recent purchases included 250kg, 500kg, 1000kg and 2000kg units, all featuring the new 8:1 safety factor standard and FEM class 2m rating, along with some specific Neg Earth Lights customisation.
“The current EXE-RISE hoist (8:1 range) has seen some fantastic improvements,” says Neg Earth. “For example, the way in which the wiring has been arranged internally, and also the upgrade of the limit switch assembly, especially in the 500kg hoist. Mechanical improvements have seen the chain size increase, leading to a higher safety factor. For The Moto Grand Prix World Championship, VTècnics was called on for the first time to provide full production of the Spanish leg. Juan Carlos Álvarez, VTècnics stage systems engineer, explains: “We’re honoured to have been selected for the 2017 celebration of the winner of the Moto GP championship, rider Marc Marquez from our home country of Spain.”

USA - Clair Global has substantially increased its Optocore inventory as the production company giants gear up for a major 2018 tour.
Having used Optocore DD series solutions for some time, mainly with their vast inventory of DiGiCo SD series mixing consoles, the Lititz-based company has added a further six DD32R-FX network converters and pair of DD2FR-FX AES/EBU.
Clair Global console dept manager, Jonathan Shober, stated that previously the company had enjoyed a brief experience with an LX4 system prior to utilising Optocore with a DiGiCo D5. “Our clients continually ask us to push the envelope,” he says. “With regard to the new tour, it was suggested that an audio network be used to distribute the signals to multiple zones. With the requirement for a projector that could achieve a high level of output to cut through stage lighting plus project onto two different surfaces during performance, the University of Birmingham went to Stage Electrics for guidance.
