UK - Definition Audio Visual has completed an audio installation at the Marriott Hotel, Trevelyan Square, Leeds to upgrade existing audio-visual equipment in the hotel ballroom. The upgrade includes localised control and localised input options for the installed audio system in the main ballroom in addition to a centralised system located in the control room.

The ballroom at the Marriott Hotel is a multi-function event room at the hotel which can be used as a single room or divided into three separate rooms, Ambler 1, Ambler 2 and Ambler 3 with the use of partitions. The division of the room requires the ability to treat the rooms as three separate, one single or any combination of audio zones, both as far as audio control and localised inputs of audio sources and radio microphones are concerned, to maximise the flexibility of the function room for the hotel.

Poland - The National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra has recently moved into new premises in Katowice. The NOSPR originally purchased Pyramix with a Sphynx DSD converter in 2005. A decision was made in 2011 to continue with Pyramix despite pressures to change. USA - Like all worshippers at the Tabernacle of Praise, members of the church's choir have been thrilled with the warm rich colours and engaging looks that the new all-LED lighting system from Chauvet Professional has brought to their services. Going beyond visual aesthetics, however, choir members have an added reason to celebrate, as the switch from incandescent to LED fixtures has greatly increased their comfort level.

UK - The Association of British Theatre Technicians 2015 Theatre Awards took place on 24 June alongside the Stage Management Association's National Awards, after the first day of the ABTT Theatre Show in its new London home, Alexandra Palace.

The experienced jury for the ABTT Awards, comprising of working practitioners and industry peers, judged nominations meeting the entry criteria that had been previously submitted or which were brought to their attention on the day.

Chile - South America's biggest sporting event, the Copa América international football tournament, has kicked off with a spectacular opening ceremony in host country Chile. The event saw stunning firework displays and musical performances, with an array of Clay Paky Mythos delivering spectacular wash and aerial effects to the proceedings.

Lighting designer Toni Amoros worked alongside choreographer Hansel Cereza to specify 24 of the award-winning Clay Paky luminaire from leading Chilean event production house Producciones Icardi. The company purchased its Mythos stock from distributor Iluminacion Profesional Valook S.A., with one of Valook's senior technical specialists Francisco Yañez covering the ceremony.

Russia - Two leading Russian rental companies - TOK Improvisation and Translight - both based in St Petersburg, joined forces to supply over 200 Robe moving lights to a large two-day celebration event staged over a recent weekend in Dvortsovaya Square, right in the heart of the city.

The first day honoured the local hockey team - SKA St Petersburg - who won the Gagarin Hockey cup in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

Then overnight, the stage was transformed to host St. Petersburg City Day on the Sunday, celebrating the city's 312th anniversary with a classical concert.

These two events were the culmination of a whole week of celebrations.

The fixtures were hung in a series of trusses in the large roof / stage structure and included Robe MMX WashBeams, LEDWash 600s plus ColorSpot and ColorWash 2500E ATs.

Australia - Brisbane City Hall is one of the city's best-loved performance and meeting spaces. The building was comprehensively restored between 2009 and 2013 at a cost of $215m.

In June 2014, seeking a system that could improve sound in the circular, reverberant space, a tender was issued. USA - Twenty years after its founding by a handful of dedicated families, Redeemer Church celebrated the completion of a new 16,000sq.ft sanctuary, fellowship hall, and classroom complex in its hometown of Riverview, Florida, a suburb of Tampa.

Midway through the design phase, local A/V integration firm Christian Sound Installation (CSI) picked the project up when another firm folded, taking the best elements of the existing work and tweaking it for increased integration, impact, and functionality. UK - Adlib were the sound supplier for the European & UK leg of the recent 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) Rock Out with your Socks Out tour.

Adlib first 'met' 5SOS at the 2014 Summertime Ball event at Wembley Stadium in London where they were co-ordinating all things audio. The band's FOH engineer John Delf, asked Adlib's Ben Booker to mix monitors for the band's headline shows at London's Islington Academy and then Birmingham Academy 2. This was back in October 2013. At this point Ben saw the potential of the band and jumped on board full time.

UK - Gottwood electronic and music festival - an intimate boutique event, set in an idyllic Welsh forest on the isle of Anglesey - has been running since 2010. It prides itself on presenting a DJ line up of "rising stars and established veterans".

Featuring multi-screen video and 3D sound from 145 loudspeakers, the cutting-edge, multipurpose facility launched this semester to bring creative artists, educators and audiences together. Sweden - Stockholm's Stadsteater, one of the most prestigious venues in the Swedish capital, has confirmed an order for 12 x BMFL Blades which will be added to a growing inventory of Robe moving lights in the house.

It is the first theatre in the country to invest in Robe's BMFL range which will be delivered by Swedish distributor, Bellalite.

The Stadsteater is located in a large metal-clad modernist building designed by architect Peter Celsing at Sergel Square in the heart of Stockholm's vibrant commercial and political centre. It also contains the Kulturhuset and a plethora of activities including libraries, theatres, debates, art exhibitions, film, dance and music - all attracting more than 3m visitors a year.

UK - West London based lighting and video rental specialist Colour Sound Experiment supplied lighting and visuals equipment to some of the elements of Glastonbury 2015, including Arcadia, Block 9, The Common and The Glade.

The crew of 25 was chiefed by Andy Melleney, and in addition to these key areas of the site, the company also supplied the touring lighting rig for Friday night's Other Stage headliners Rudimental (LD Jonny Gaskell) and kitted out over 20 major bars around the site with practical and effects lighting.

UK - When Nottinghamshire-based events supplier OneBigStar was tasked recently with revitalising the lighting rig at Nottingham's National Ice Centre, several challenges were instantly thrown to the fore. Durability as well as excellent performance would be required from any replacements to the existing filament lights. Following a demonstration of a variety of fixtures at the venue, the company specified 10 Chauvet Rogue R2 LED Spot fixtures and 20 COLORdash Par-Hex 12 LED wash fixtures for permanent install at the popular ice skating venue.

USA - As part of the Kansas Star Casino, and located just south of Wichita, the Kansas Star Arena is a multipurpose auditorium that hosts conventions, concerts, rodeos, MMA fights and other events.

The 3,400-seat arena, which opened in 2013, had a basic audio system for announcements. However, the arena quickly outgrew the system's capabilities and often rented equipment to supplement its sound level and music quality for rodeos and other events with high levels of crowd excitement.

UK - The Jockey Club's £45m redevelopment of its flagship Racecourse at Cheltenham is fully underway with many of the areas complete outside of the main grandstand. The redevelopment will increase capacity and provide modern facilities and includes the demolition of the current royal box, which was built in 1952, and 55 other boxes built in the 1920s and 1930s.

Off The Beach - Brian Wilson has cancelled his UK tour in September to focus on promoting a new movie about his life which has become an "overwhelming success". The former Beach Boy was due to play a series of shows in support of his current album No Pier Pressure. But due to the success of biopic Love And Mercy, starring Paul Dano and John Cusack, Wilson is postponing the tour to support the movie.
