St. Madeleine's open ceiling promotes good acoustic diffusion but its ceramic tile floor, hardwood pews and painted walls contribute to an overall 'live' sound quality. In this environment, St. Madeleine's previous point-source audio system was unable to provide good vocal clarity and it suffered from uneven coverage, frequent feedback and a noticeable rear-wall bounce.

The large facilities in Beijing comprise also a 600sq.m studio with a control room fitted with a Lawo mc²56 console. Two further sapphire mixing consoles are installed for the Phoenix TV news channel.

The state-owned but privately run Chinese company, popular with the middle class and management, serves one channel with recorded shows and talk rounds whereas the information channel provides news and reports on culture and religious issues. The university's Father LeRoux Conference Centre, located in the Student Centre building, is a large, multipurpose room used for live presentations and special events and for movies and video presentations. The Conference Centre can be subdivided with an air wall to accommodate two simultaneous events.

Last year, Seattle University hired Sparling, an engineering and architectural firm in Lynnwood, Washington to design AV systems for several of its venues. An award-winning mix engineer, in recent years Hammond has developed an impressive portfolio as a FOH engineer, mixing for bands such as Saxon, Deaf Havana,You Me At Six and No Devotion.

"Increasingly on tour I was getting demands for live recordings for single B sides, album additional tracks, or magazine covers, so there was always a need for studio time. I knew it was time to invest in my own studio when I found myself mixing the bonus tracks for Deaf Havana's deluxe edition album on a laptop on my knees," explains Ben Hammond. Built in the 1950s, the Lausanne stadium urgently needed to upgrade its 30-year-old sound system in time for an International Athletissima athletics meet in July. It also needed to comply with the requirements of the FC-Lausanne Sport football club, based at the venue. As well as football and athletics, the venue can be used for concerts.

To celebrate its landmark birthday the venue has upgraded the sound system in its 1700-capacity main Hall One with the installation of an RCF HDL 20-A line array by local contractors (and long time RCF rental partner), Nitelites.
