Canada - Pierre E. Roy lit a recent sold-out performance of La Légende by comedian Dave Gaudet at the Place Bell in Laval, Quebec. Following a vision guided by what he describes as “Making light rock,” Roy animated his client’s witty and satirical performance with a dynamic lighting design that featured plenty of ballyhoo moments accented by special effects and atmospherics. Helping him was a versatile rig supplied by Nord-Scène that featured 57 Chauvet Professional fixtures.

Roy said this when describing his show: “When you think of a rock show, you think of raw energy, music that vibrates through your body and lighting that hits hard. This show, let’s be honest, was a visual slap in the face created with explosive colours, well-timed lighting breaks, and the balance between power and subtlety.

USA - The Link at Cascade, a major mixed-use development in the heart of Miami, now shines as a beacon visible from US Highway1 and the Miami Metrorail. Designed by internationally renowned Arquitectonica, the 5.57-acre project features a 404,000sq.ft residential tower with 421 units, 13,000sq.ft of retail, and 25,000sq.ft of vibrant public plaza space. A defining feature of the development is Cascade, a dynamic exterior lighting design that brings the building’s expansive façade to life.

The Cascade lighting concept, developed by John DiDomenico of Skyline Arts, uses TMB’s FloppyFlex LED Neon to create bold, abstract lines across the tower’s otherwise understated exterior. The challenge was considerable – illuminating a large, exposed surface with no exterior access and strict concealment limitations. From the earliest stages, FloppyFlex was centra

Europe - Although Marc Carolan has become well known for carrying several racks of analogue outboard gear when touring as the front-of-house mixer for Snow Patrol and Muse, he is just as likely to apply some of his favourite plugins hosted on Fourier Audio’s transform.engine. Carolan, who has been working in live and studio sound for over 25 years, also including with The Cure, Italian superstar Cremonini, and many others, follows a simple principle when selecting what signal processing to apply to a sound source. “It has always been about the tool that fits, the tool that works. Impact Assessment - Government ministers have pledged to carry out an “economic impact assessment” of its planned changes to copyright law following alarm from across the creative industries and within parliament itself. Ahead of a vote in parliament this week, Labour has vowed to produce a report exploring “the breadth of issues raised in the AI and copyright debate”, including the ways in which AI developers are able to train their systems in the UK.

This marks an acknowledgement of the fears expressed by creatives in recent months, with the likes of Elton John, Cameron Mackintosh and Tom Stoppard condemning a proposed opt-out system under which tech giants would be automatically permitted to train AI models on work unless its creators expressly forbade it.

The government’s latest commitments form part of amendments to the Data (Use and A
