UK - Proving that 'science isn't just for geeks', It's not Rocket Science launched on ITV in February, with each of the six episodes packed with thrilling large scale experiments.

Fronted by actor Ben Miller, stand-up comedian Romesh Ranganthan and presenter Rachel Riley, the fast paced series succeeded in bringing science to life. Each week, one of the presenters put their lives in jeopardy in a series of daredevil, high risk experiments where only science could save them - and Unusual Rigging was on hand to help the production team achieve their ambitions for the show.

ITV's Kalpna Patel-Knight said, "To really captivate the audience, we planned some large scale experiments in an aircraft hangar - and each one had rather complex rigging requirements. Unusual Rigging was known to ITV as they handle all the large scale rigs on Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeawa

Sweden - Nearly 100 Robe BMFLs - 88 x BMFL Blades and six BMFL Spots - proved invaluable to Fredrik Jonsson's lighting design for the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest which was staged in the Globe Arena, Stockholm with a capacity live audience of around 10,000 plus an estimated 180m television viewers worldwide.

Fredrik was lighting his second ESC in three years, having also been LD for the 2013 edition in Malmo. He was also the lighting operator for the last ESC staged at the Globe Arena in 2000.

Significantly, the BMFLs were an essential tool for lighting the show properly. "I needed a high intensity spot with good colour rendering and a framing shutter system that enabled proper key-light from long throws," explained Fredrik. "The BFML Blade fit that specification to the mark, hence their presence on the rig."

Fredrik's production lighting design was crafted together wi

UK - Former X Factor winners Little Mix are currently promoting their third album, Get Weird, with a major tour of Europe, Oceania and Asia. Playing largely arenas and summer festival dates, a pair of DiGiCo consoles are adding some black magic to the mix.

Kicking off at Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena on 13 March, demand for tickets saw a number of shows added to the UK arena leg, which ran through to mid-April. In mid-May the tour moved to Australia and Asia, returning to Europe for further headline and festival shows.

Monitor engineer Craig Pryde has used DiGiCo consoles since 2008 and has worked with Little Mix since they won the X Factor three years later. "The SD10 sounds great. It's extremely flexible in its set up and having so many output busses available makes it really easy to provide all the extra mixes required for this kind of show, including underst

USA - C3 Church offers it members three campuses to choose from in the San Diego area. In an effort to keep the quality of their sound reinforcement above reproach, they recently contracted Sound Image to design and install an Adamson S10 system at their Central Campus worship centre.

"When they bought the building they opted to rent a system to get a better handle on what worked best in the space," explains Brandon Rinas, sales engineer for Sound Image. "The room is very wide, not very deep and has a low ceiling, so they definitely needed something that could provide focused energy. At the same time the church was interested in stereo coverage with every seat getting the same audio experience."

The review/demonstration process was fairly rigorous with the church evaluating a number of sound reinforcement systems before making a decision. Fortunately, James Hurley, the new

USA - Great fashion, as the designer Christian Dior once observed, requires a happy balance between accents and a base. So too does great fashion show lighting. LD Daniel Thibault of Alpha Production Group demonstrated this point recently by blending the warm white light of the Ovation E-190WW with the rich colours of the Rogue R2 Wash at Art 2 Wear, an annual fashion show that celebrates the work of North Carolina State Design School students.

Thibault used the Chauvet Professional fixtures to create complementing and contrasting looks on the fashion show's runway. "I wanted the warm white light from the Ovations with no colour gels, because I felt this gave us the kind of natural look that worked best for most of the fashion designs," he said. "When I needed something cooler for the harder edged styles, I used the Rogues to overlay light on top of the Ovation light. The two
