UK - Since 2011, The Stage Awards have reflected the industry’s best performing theatres and theatremakers. Taking place on an annual basis, the Awards celebrate the various roles within theatre, such as producers, actors, venues and educational teams.
This year, the winners were announced at a ceremony at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Alongside sponsoring the Unsung Hero Award, White Light was called upon to oversee the complete technical solutions for the ceremony.
The ceremony took place on 27January in the Grand Saloon which sits at the top of Theatre Royal. Marcus Wadland, WL’s project manager, comments, “This is one of the most important dates in the theatrical calendar so we wanted to provide production support that would help make it an afternoon to remember.

Spain - Opened in 1923, Madrid’s Monumental Theatre has hosted many theatre companies, live shows, concerts and other events. In 2016 it celebrated 50 years as the headquarters of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Radio Televisión Española (RTVE Symphony Orchestra and Choir), a milestone marked by the installation of two brand new Yamaha CL5 digital mixing consoles.
One of the Spain’s most prestigious orchestras, Orquesta Sinfónica de Radio Televisión Española, is run by state broadcaster RTVE. Most of its live or recorded broadcast performances come from the theatre, due to its high quality acoustics. These produce the excellent sound quality and reverb essential for the reproduction of classical music concerts.
The theatre has featured two Yamaha PM5D consoles for several years, but in 2016 the decision was taken to install CL5s.

Germany - For the long-awaited inauguration of the Elbphilharmonie concert hall located on the harbour-side in Hamburg, a massive light and video setup was installed. It all culminated with a spectacular show in the evening of 11 January. As a crucial part of this show, no less than 500 P-5 and P-2 wash lights from SGM were applied.
Hamburg’s new concert hall is one of the largest and most acoustically advanced in the world. It is popularly nicknamed Elphi. The 108m tall building consists of two sections. The new glassy construction resembles a hoisted sail, water wave or quartz crystal, which is constructed on top of an old warehouse building. A terrace placed in middle, ties the new and the old sections together. This is where most of the P-5s were installed. Additionally, all balconies on the upper part were also equipped with P-5s.
