The National Rigging Advisory Group expands scope and membership
20 September 2013
UK - The National Rigging Advisory Group (NRAG) is pleased to announce its newly expanded remit to become a representative body for the entertainment rigging industry in the UK. Whilst created to oversee the development of the National Rigging Certificate, the success of that program allows the NRAG to now focus on additional initiatives to increase safety and competency in the industry. These include representing the interests of the rigging community on national committees and industry groups, promoting best practice and adherence to technical and safety standards, and acting as the source of information on rigging to the entertainment industry.
To further this vision, the membership of the NRAG has been enlarged to include a cross-section of companies, organisations and individuals representing the UK rigging community. The breadth of experience and level of expertise now gathered around the table is both impressive and exciting. Organisational and company members include the Association of Event Venues (Lee Holloway), BBC (Stephen Gregory), Blackout (Kevin Monks), ITV (Alison Hodgetts), National Arenas Association (Paul Rowlands), Outback Rigging (Mark Surtees), PLASA (Martin Hawthorn), PRG (Chris Walker), Star Events Group (Roger Barrett), UK Rigging (Harry Box) and Unusual Rigging (Robin Elias). Joining them are respected industry experts Mark Armstrong, Steve Colley, Chris Higgs, Pete Kalopsidiotis, Oz Marsh and Eric Porter.
Members of the NRAG serve on an array of industry and government bodies involved with health and safety, standards and codes of practice, and education and training in the entertainment industry. It is our goal to collaborate with those bodies and to use our collective voice on behalf of the UK rigging community. The NRAG may be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org.
