PLASA Rigging Conference expands seminar programme

The PLASA Rigging Conference has confirmed the speakers for two more presentations added to the schedule

20 July 2012

UK - Two more sessions are now confirmed - adding to the already busy programme of seminars and debates at the Earls Court Conference Centre on Monday 10 and Tuesday 11 September.

Now firmly established as the seminal event for all rigging practitioners and professionals across the global entertainment sector, the PLASA Rigging Conference is proud to confirm the speakers for two more presentations added to the schedule.

Adding to the international profile of the Conference are Rinus Bakker and Roy Schilderman from the Association of Riggers and Grounders in Holland (ARGH). Their presentation, Common Practice? complements one of the central objectives of the conference: to develop and establish common practices across Europe. All touring personnel will be familiar with the sometimes erratic variations in terminology, safe working practices and standards as they cross borders on a European tour. Rinus and Roy will share some of the progress that ARGH has made in developing a more standardised working environment throughout Europe.

Frontline Rigging's MD, Gert Jan Brouwer, will hold a discussion forum entitledGetting Right to the Point. Successful improvements to designing modern rigging access in such venues can only be worthwhile with the input and well considered perspectives of rigging professionals themselves. How would you improve your working environment at a given venue? Is your viewpoint considered when changes are made?

The conference's international flavour kicks off in style with the key-note speaker, Roy Bickel, one of the original Disney Riggers who started working long before H&S had even been invented and who is still rigging tours, conventions and corporate events today. His personal perspective on the development of his profession will be unmissable.

If you can't make it to the Conference itself, don't forget The Riggers' Forum which will be held on the afternoon of Sunday 9 September. It will be an open-floor, chaired question time with a panel of members from the National Rigging Advisory Group. Want to discuss matters of safety, welfare or rigging from a technical standpoint? Need information about fall protection, inspection regimes or the NRC? Share your views and discuss your experiences in a round-table discussion about a wide range of topics driven by you, the rigging community.

For the full programme and delegate bookings please visit www.plasariggingconference.com. PLASA Members or ETCP / NRC qualified persons benefit from a reduced ticket rate: £275 + vat; standard rate: £330 + vat. Forum tickets are £40 + vat.
