UK - Automation specialists Stage Technologies are planning a more extensive presence at PLASA 2012 than in recent years. The company will be presenting a seminar at the PLASA Professional Development Programme, taking part in two panels at the concurrent PLASA Rigging Conference, and returning to the show's Hall 1 after several years in Hall 2, to exhibit its products and meet up with customers.

As usual, visitors to the Stage Technologies stand will have the chance to speak to reps from the group's UK and overseas offices, with staff from Las Vegas planning to be on site for the duration of the show. This year the company will be located at stand 1-G31, close to the central PLASA bar.

Business development manager Matthew Tonks said, "We look forward to being able to meet our customers and specifiers. PLASA is always a great opportunity to discuss potential projects and applications for our products and services, as well as a chance to catch up with old friends."

Neil Darracott, head of mechanical engineering and design at Stage Technologies' sister company Delstar Engineering will be taking part in the PLASA Rigging Conference panel discussing Dynamic Loads in Rigging. The session, to be moderated by Bill Sapsis, will take place on 10 September at 2:00pm.

Stage Technologies' director of rental services Ted Moore will also lend his expertise at the PLASA Rigging Conference, as part of the panel discussion Performer Flying and Aerial Performance, presented by ZFX's Robert Dean. Taking place on 10 September at 4:00pm, the panel will be moderated by Gert Jan Brouwer.

Stage Technologies' group director of development John Hastie will lead a seminar at exploring how even smaller venues reap the rewards that stage automation can bring. The seminar, entitled Automation for the People: How even the Smallest theatres can benefit from Automation will give panel and guests the chance to discuss ways smaller venues can successfully utilise the latest stage engineering practices. The seminar will take place on Tuesday 11 September from 11.00am to 12.00pm.

Hastie said "When the PLASA organisers contacted us about presenting a seminar we were more than happy to get involved. There are many ways that an automation system can help theatres of any size, and we hope our presentation will encourage smaller venues to join the discussion."
