PLASA 2012: RCF set to fly new HDL20-A
31 July 2012
UK - Pride of place on RCF's stand at PLASA 2012 (Earls Court, 9-12 September) will be its new HDL20-A, D-Line active line array system, since the company will be flying a complete rig at its booth.
The careful acoustic design, no compromise transducers and a unique, composite cabinet design make the HDL20-A the preferred tool in live sound reinforcement and installed situations where line array is required.
Fast and easy set up the HDL20-A is powered from a 1200W (peak) 2-way digital amplifier, and processed from a powerful inbuilt DSP. The processing includes cluster and HF projection correction and special new presets for indoor and high curving situations.
The system features state of the art RCF transducers - two powerful 10" for a solid bass reproduction and a large format CD850 3" voice coil compression driver to deliver vocal clarity and high definition with an incredible dynamic.
The HDL20-A features selectable angles between cabinets (with 2° resolution), unlike the fixed curving of many competitors' products - thus it is possible to create real J-shaped or spiral arrays.
Where LF extension is required, RCF has produced the complementary 2 x 18 SUB 8006-AS and 1 x 18 HDL 18-AS.
RCF will also present production versions of its new Acustica Compact 'C' Series of two-way passive systems, originally previewed at Frankfurt Prolight+Sound this Spring. The new range represents a no-compromise design and construction approach, offering a very natural sound in both recorded music and live applications, says the company.
These two-way enclosures feature RCF's proprietary 'CMD' (Coverage Matching Design) technology, which helps guarantee the smooth transition between the HF horns' polar responses and directivity of the LF transducers. The compression drivers used in the Compact Series are the latest in neodymium magnetic circuit technology, while the LF devices can withstand peak power of up to six times the nominal power.
All Compact Series speakers are equipped with high power handling, low impedance crossover designs with electronic protection on the driver. Cabinet chassis are heavy duty painted Baltic birch. A steel reinforced construction with several mounting points keeps them free from vibration, and maintains the highest levels for the professional market.
