MCL blowing bubbles in The Big Brother House

O2 gobo projections onto the rear of the Big Brother house at Elstree.

2 October 2003

UK - The Big Brother house at Elstree Film Studios was transformed into a party venue recently by event co-ordinators, Skybridge and technology providers, MCL. A two-day event, hosted by mobile giants O2, provided the opportunity for the Avesco Group to combine the best technology from its audio, visual and lighting fleets.

The event was attended by both O2 staff and winners of a competition conducted by the multinational service providers. Working for Skybridge, MCL provided an imaginative lighting set including Pulsar's popular LED Chroma Banks and 12 of the new Color Blast floods from the States. While the latter were used architecturally in the garden, and to flood the building exterior, the Chroma Banks were used decoratively within the reconfigured house interior. In the 'club' zone MAC 300 moving head beam effects were used. DJ's pumped dance music out through a d&b PA system, provided by MCL, which was then relayed throughout the house.

"The effect that caused the biggest buzz," said MCL project manager, Rob Day, "was the Le Maitre Bubble Master 2000 out in the garden. This emulated the O2-type bubbles and went down a storm."
