LumenRadio goes green in Paris museum

Business

The building houses an extensive collection of artefacts dating all the way back to Louis XIII

France - LumenRadio's CRMX wireless lighting controls played a key role in a new 'green' lighting installation at the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle located in the historic part of central Paris.

The monumental Grande Galerie de l'Evolution, opened in 1889, is the centrepiece of the many buildings and sites making up the expansive French national museum of natural history. Its spacious central hall features a magnificent glass canopy above an equally impressive interior. The building houses an extensive collection of artefacts dating all the way back to Louis XIII who became King of France in 1610.

Pierre de Cazenove, head of operations and planning for exhibits at the museum, and his staff have developed a new energy saving lighting concept in collaboration with LumenRadio's French distributor AVAB Transtechnik.

An ETC Unison Mosaic controller was selected for its ability to provide scheduled operation, as well as manual control for special events. Energy efficient Seachanger Nemo plasma profiles with ETC Source 4 lens tubes were chosen for their quality of light, long life expectancy, and equally important; their native RDM (Remote Device Management) support.

LumenRadio's wireless CRMX DMX/RDM system provides the signal distribution solution for this project as it made it possible to install the system with minimum impact on the historic interior of the building and without any down-time. The acclaimed CRMX SuperNova software, with its integral RDM controller, continues to provide valuable operational and maintenance efficiencies as it allows real-time centralized monitoring of the otherwise difficult or impossible to reach fixtures.

"LumenRadio's CRMX technology is a critical part of a system like this and one of its many major advantages is flexibility; it becomes easy to extend DMX//RDM signal distribution to places impractical or even impossible to reach with cables. Its extensive RDM support offers effortless and efficient remote configuration and supervision of devices in even the most difficult to reach locations," states Christian Rezgui, Project Manager of AVAB Transtechnik.

"We and our customer are very pleased with the result and the performance of LumenRadio's CRMX products."
