LDR and Macostar combine LED and TH sources

7 September 2012
Hong Kong - In terms of efficiency, LED lights are undoubtedly more efficient than Tungsten-Halogen lights, but in terms of performances - colour rendering, colour consistency) Tungsten-Halogen lights are better. LED light is successfully and widely used in architectural applications, but they have more restricted applications in theatre and TV installation.
LDR's Besio Fabiano and Macostar's Mr. Derek Chow feel that they have successfully answered the question of whether LED and TH lamp sources can co-exist, by combining conventional TH lamps and state-of-the-art LED technology co-developed to produce a lighting solution for two auditoriums in Hong Kong - Lei Tung and Stanley Community Hall.
"We came across this challenging project," commented Macostar's Francis Fung "when the Hong Kong community center decided to revamp its two auditoriums because the venue's lighting was felt to be limited and outdated for today's lighting needs. In answer to the project requests, Macostar provided a complete solution based on a combination of Nota TH profiles, LED 200W profiles and LED Fresnels. Maco Fresnel LED and wide-beam LDR Alba LED profiles were positioned above the stage, while short-beam angle LED 200W profiles were used at the front of stage."
These are the first two auditoriums in HK designed around LED and LDR TH technology and the companies expect to see more. "LDR", says Fabiano Besio, "has always been committed to providing professional lighting solutions by watching with interest the usage of new technologies but without compromising the performance and the results that customers expect from us. The right light source in the right place is the secret, and the correct mix of Tungsten-Halogen and LED helped to provide the perfect solution. This is not an opinion but a matter of fact."
Besio added his special thanks to Macostar, which has successfully represented LDR products in Hong Kong and China for over 10 years.
